Device: Kindle PW
Wireless side load and sync with phone

I currently use Calibre to manage all my ebooks and push them via email to my Kindle. I either read on my PW or my Android phone via the Kindle app. Now that Amazon is dropping MOBI support but not showing EPUB covers I'm ready to pull the plug and drop Amazon entirely.

Must haves:
Side load books wirelessly, and sideloaded books are fully functional. Preferably pull from the device, but push is ok too.
Seamlessly sync books and reading position with an Android phone.
6-7" eInk
Front light
Good battery life

Nice to have:
Manage collections or tags in Calibre and sync to both devices
Waterproof/durable - I have little kids and will take this to the beach, pool, camping, etc
USB-C and/or Qi charging

I can setup pretty much anything I need to make the sideload and sync happen (servers, custom firmware, whatever) as long as it makes the day to day of loading and reading as easy as possible.

The less I spend the better, but if I have to splash out to get this working the way I want, I will.

Thanks!

Maybe it could suit you Pocketbook Touch HD 3
Info produit : https://pocketbook.ch/en-ch/catalog/...ouch-hd-3-grey

Pocketbook Aplication for Phone : https://pocketbook.ch/en-ch/app

• For more demanding ones that need more book settings, I would recommend installing Koreader. But the device does not have USB-C.

• A good alternative could be "Boox Onyx Poke". It depends on your financial limit.
A feature of the BOOX ONYX is that you can install apps from Google Play, such as Kindle.

.. I'm curious what more experienced users would advise you, because very few devices meet wireless charging, USB-C and other requirements at a low price

Wireless sideloading and phone sync are pointless. If you achieve it, it will be by having an Android ereader like meebook/boyue or Boox with rubbish library and book management compared to Kobo.

Wireless charging is a nonsense compared with a 3m USB-C or micro USB cable. Slower, can't read in your hand, less efficient, creates radio interference even though it's inductive. A Dect phone or PMR security radio dock works better than any so called wireless charging.

With a Libra or Sage and Calibre sideloading is no bother. Search finds the page you are at on a different device faster than WiFi sync.

I read 1/3rd to 2 books a day and Calibre + Kobo beats every other ereader. The newer Kobos use USB-C.

I have a Sony PRS-350, four models of Kindle, Boyue Likebook Mars (like a meebook P78) which has Android and KOReader. I've had other ereaders.

For a gadget like an ereader the micro-USB vs USB-C makes no difference at all.

Pocketbook (TTS) or Lithium on phone/tablet can have books managed by Calibre (Android anyway).

Cheap 6": A Kobo Nia
A 7": A Kobo Libra 2

Anything else is FAR worse for finding books on the eReader.

Oh, and second choice if you want simple and don't bother with PD, only bought ebooks, is a Kindle ereader and Kindle App. Calibre can't do much with it unless you jail break, and then you'd be better with a Kobo. If you use WiFi on Kindle frequently Amazon will delete all the covers of non-Amazon ebooks unless you gift Amazon copies of them all.

Wireless sideloading and syncing with my phone are absolutely not pointless.

Load a book onto calibre and send it to the kindle is wonderful, as is being able to open the same book on my phone in my lunch break and it sync to the same position i left the kindle at is brilliant.

I absolutely understand why the OP would want both features. Personally id never touch another Kobo product ever again either. The Libra i had was a useless piece of rubbish that kept factory resetting itself randomly and deleting my library.

Thank you!

It seems like my options are a Kobo with Koreader or an Android based ereader with MoonReader or some other app that has sync. I don't really do a lot of library management on the device -- just sort by most recent and pick something near the top, or if there's a particular book I want to reference I'll search for it by title. I've been playing a little bit with Koreader on my phone, and I'm kinda meh on it, but not in anyway I can actually articulate. It may just be hard to tell because the phone in general is inferior for reading.
