You need to use the coplate version. |

Hello all
I am a new with the Kindle and its unofficial customization. What is the difference between Update_KUALBooklet_e3deabf_install.bin and Update_KUALBooklet_hotfix_e3deabf_install.bin ? Do I need to install the "KUALBooklet_hotfix" after KUALBooklet_e3deabf ? My device is the PW3, firmware version 5.13.2 |

The former is for MRPI, while the latter is for UYK.
So, no, just read the docs and use the one appropriate to your current situation. |

Thanks for all the cool work, I'm a noob and tried it out for the first time, and probably bricked my PW2.
I tried the new JB here and installed MRPI. This all seemed to go well. Then, after installing KUAL, the install completed, but after UI restart I'm stuck on a blank white screen. Mounting to the PC works, but the device is unresponsive to all inputs including hard reboots, etc. I found the MRPI log on the device and the installation seems to have worked: https://pastebin.com/gH8fQeGW Is there anything I can do to rescue this? Any idea what I might have done wrong? |

If it actually mounts properly, you can try a factory reset (I can't remember the name of the trigger file, though, but it's probably mentioned in the downgrade thread a few threads down).
Speaking of mounting, if you could actually hard reset it, I'd have mentioned make sure it boot entirely unplugged from anything, as booting a Kindle while connected to a computer is known to do wonky shit. |

Create an empty file named "DO_FACTORY_RESTORE" at the root of the Kindle storage. Once this has been created, reboot the device by holding the power button for 40 seconds. This will trigger a factory reset.

My jailbroken PW3 has just been updated to 5.14.3.0.1 (from 5.14.2). Now, what can I do to restore the previous state?
What is the best way to avoid silent upgrades - I'm using my kindle as a Homeassistant dashboard using an online screensaver extension. Would it be possible to do so by redirecting kindle's update servers to localhost in /etc/hosts? It's really annoying to be always in danger that this feature will be irreversibly lost one day because of the upgrade. Hopefully, today it's not the day. Should I try to downgrade it when there's still a workaround? |

Jailbreak was not lost with my last update, I just needed to reinstall KUAL by placing *.bin in mrpackages folder and typing ";log mrpi" in search bar.
Is there an efficient way to avoid the OTA firmware upgrades? Does renameotabin.zip still work? In my last update, the WIFI must have turned on itself. I was keeping my kindle in airplane mode all the time, enabling wifi only for a fraction of time to refresh the screensaver image. |

I am on Kindle PW5, 5.4.1.1. I installed MRPI and Kual. I assume, I need to use coplate version and I noticed 3 files in the archive:

The hotfix version is for installing through the "update your Kindle" option in the Kindle settings. The uninstall file is to uninstall KUAL |

Solved by reading: https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/PW2_Index Section 2.5 My PW2 is a 9017 series so I had to install that firmware 5.4.5. After that, KUAL works ![]() |
