Wiping my screen changed my font

I wouldn't say it's a reason not to update. I did find it annoying and had accidentally triggered it a few times, just hadn't gotten around to figuring out how to turn it off. Thanks to this thread that's taken care of.

I did try using it in purpose before turning it off, but found it hard to judge the font size correctly from such a small sample.

If the zoom on kepubs is fixed in the future, then maybe they could upgrade then.

I disagree with not updating because of pinch-to-zoom for the font size. I don't fiddle with the screen such that it triggers.

If this makes a difference, double-tapping to enlarge the image still works fine.

What did you use to wipe the screen? You should not have had a problem if you used a microfiber cloth.

The problem is that the OP could have used his hands to wipe the screen. If you use a decent microfiber cloth to wipe the screen, you won't have problem wiping the screen. So really, this is nothing but user error. It's nothing to be concerned about.

We'll have to agree to differ. I only upgrade when this offers something I want; for example when a kindle upgrade offered custom fonts.

My ereaders are in permanent aeroplane mode, so not upgrading doesn't affect my ability to sideload books either from Amazon (for my kindles) or Kobo. Nor do I need security updates.

And as to buying new devices, I expect them to come with spanking new firmware.

Regarding screen-cleaning, personally I turn an ereader off before getting out screen wipes. I believe the OP merely 'brushed' a speck away.

And this spanking new firmware is going to have swipe to change the font size as a feature.

But it's how you go about brushing off this "speck". As I said before, it's human error and not the fault of the new feature. Heck, you can brush a speck and change the page regardless of the firmware in use.

I don't even remember what I did to unintentionally trigger the font size bubble.. Maybe accidentally touched the screen with two fingers. I'm glad I was able to turn the feature off since I didn't like it even if used intentionally.

I already have tap-to-turn turned off to reduce accidental triggering.

I do have the left side swipe-to-adjust-light feature turned on. But sometimes when I try to use it I end up highlighting text instead....

Now if I could only figure out what causes the Kobo to occasionally turn backwards instead of forwards, when I swipe to turn forward. Once it starts doing this it's likely to happen again repeatedly in the same book. But sometimes I can read a few books in a row without it happening.
