Plugin cannot be disabled

I'm getting that message "Disabling the plugin X is not allowed" for any plugin, even the user-installed ones.

Done a quick search on MR, found a similar case...

Anyone else?

(Calibre 6.3, Windows)

You may already have a pending change that would get messed if it allowed another before it completes

Are you sure it's for any plugin? Some just can't be disabled for whatever reason.

I don't use that PI so this is just a bunch of WAG's

By any chance is it being called by another PI like Action Chains? (the only one I know that uses others)

Last ditch method: Shut calibre down
In the Calibre Configuration folder; Plugins; delete the ZIP file of the PI name you want removed (leave the other files if you want to keep settings.

That plugin in the screenshot is independent. Actually, I just chose a random plugin from my list to show you that message...

I'm aware of the manual removal method, so I've been doing that to troubleshoot the issue I'm having with an emblem not updating in Cover Grid. I think this emblem issue started after Calibre 6, but it could be something PI-related... I might open a specific thread for this. Thanks!

Works for me. Run in debug mode and see if there are any errors printed.

None of the User interface action plugins I have installed can be disabled, including Last Modified -- IIRC JimmXinu has explained the reasons why.

I suspect you mean someone else--I only just found this thread and I don't remember ever discussing it before.

user interface plugins cannot be disabled because the main calibre GUI is built from them. Disabling them would break it. One could of course allow disabling custom user interface plugins, but adding that is not worth the effort to me.

From the log, you have several old plugins that are not loading properly. I do not know if they will be causing this issue, but, fixing them will at least clean things up. And if you can see them in the installed plugin list and try to open their configuration, you will get the error.

You will need to either remove the plugin file from the plugins directory or install the updated version. You can see the name from the logs. "calibre_plugins.savetoformat.savetoformatacti on" is for "Save To Format" and the file name is "savetoformat.zip".

I did some cleaning yesterday, to see if that would solve this issue, but still got some errors. New log is attached!

But could you not set the interface plugin to be disabled the next time Calibre is run?
