Literata was not properly designed for eBook reading. Some of the lines are too thin. Just take a look at the lowercase e. The horizontal line is too thin. So yes it can be used for reading eBooks on an eInk screen, but Google should not be lying to us and say it was designed for reading eBooks.

Jon, you've done it again!
I've been a Bookerly devotee since it came out, but have now put ChareInk on my new Kobo Libra 2 and am converted.
It is clear, spacious, a delight to read with.

Thank you

Well I certainly agree with you! I also use ChareInk on my Libra 2.
I use the weighted version when I read on my iPad mini. I like the reading font is a little heavy, and you can't adjust the boldness in Marvin or Mapleread. The weighed version is perfect on my iPad.

I agree that the weighted version does look good on an LCD screen.

Any reason? I am asking because I use Literata Book and like it quite a bit. What am I missing between Literata Book v2 and Literata v3?

Honestly, no. I just thought why take v2 when there is v3. It's a complete redesign according to TypeTogether, but probably only marginally noticeable.

I'd recommend at least trying Literata Book.

Related to the main topic: I can't get Caudex to work properly in Kobo epub. It's fine in epub, but I convert books with illustrations to Kobo epub. In these, Caudex always shows in italics. Why? Is there anything I can do about this?

Caudex is my favourite font.

I've downloaded Caudex and installed it on my Libra 2 and it's working perfectly well with KePub. Here is where I got it from.

I am running 4.33.19759. If this copy does not work, you may want to consider updating the firmware.

Thanks. Maybe it's because I'm still using 4.30

After running 4.30 and 4.33, there no reason that I can see to stay with 4.30.

Apart from the issue with Caudex, 4.30 works perfectly for me. I don't know if upgrading will help. My motto tends to be: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
My kindles are still on old firmware - the one which allowed custom fonts - and work happily. I've never seen any reason or had a need to upgrade.

But it is broke. I'll send you a link to the patched 4.33 firmware. You'll have to install the same version first. I'll do that tomorrow. Then you can decide is you want to run 4.33 or not.
