I've only got one episode left of Outer Range and you're right; it's trippy and out there, but I also like it. I'm just wondering if there will be any more curve balls in the last episode, tbh I'm kinda counting on it.
Up next is the latest/last season of Locke & Key. |

Finished the 3 seasons of the original Professor T on PBS. Great show but probably not for everyone. Ready for something lighter, maybe S2 of Queens of Mystery...

Binging season 6/7 of Grantchester on a free week's trial of PBS Masterpiece (after starting the trial for the disappointing Around the World in 80 Days).

I thought the first episode of Grantchester was pretty lackluster myself. It wasn't until the Geordie/Sydney friendship blossomed that I got hooked. But you're right; it's no Father Brown.
Will Davenport is no Sidney Chambers. I'm glad they didn't try to clone Sidney. The post-Sidney show tends to try too hard at times, but I still find it interesting. But I probably wouldn't pay for it. Hence the free-trial binge. ![]() |

Oh, a question out of idle curiosity: I don’t find Father Brown’s version of the RC church (especially given the 1950s) very accurate; does Grantchester do a better job with the C of E? |

As far as your question about CofE--honestly, I can hardly recall anything particularly about the church, itself, even mentioned in Grantchester other than "oh, this will get you in trouble," and most of it was centered either around Sydney's relationship with someone, or the prelate's. {shrug}. It seemed as though the Church's entire focus was on preventing inappropriate relationships, or if the show needed a spot of tension, the Church would pop up. Honestly, it barely seemed to exist the rest of the time. Others here may have more potent recollections than I. @Diap: so the Phileas Fogg, etc. didn't work? Dang. I was hoping that it might have some legs, no irony intended. Hitch |

I forget now which show I was watching recently and I was struck by just how MUCH PBS had cut or edited. Might have been an old Silent Witness. Something like that. I mean, it's pretty damned silly when they blur someone's bum! Quote:

Dunno. One of the Brit-streamers, either Acorn or BritBox, has all the SW episodes back from the dawn and I recalled one that I'd seen on PBS. But that had to be...ages ago. That I watched in on PBS, I man.
I forget what show it was, but I lost my sense of humor with them, for axing an essential part of a show, to make it fit the Mystery Or Masterpiece Theater timeslot, killing off a crucial part of the story. I mean, you had no chance of solving the muuuuurrrrrrrrrrrder or mystery, whatever, without knowing the part that they cut. Between that and the endless edits for (OH NO, butt nudity! The horror!) and language...I just couldn't take it any longer. If I wanted airplane versions of stuff, I'd watch the old AMC. Hitch |

I finished Outer Range and I wasn't disappointed with the weirdness. It was a very open ending, no resolutions. A second season hasn't been announced yet.
Instead of Locke & Key I was in the mood for American Horror Story. That's always a series I need to be in the mood for to watch. But the first episode of the latest season just didn't do it for me. I might continue at a later day, give this season one or two more episodes before deciding to continue or not. Tonight I'll start Locke & Key and I might watch the bonus episode of The Sandman that Netflix released on Friday. Earlier this week the trailer for Netflix' Wednesday series was released and it looks right up my alley. I must say I love Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams. |
