Copying/moving books
Hi
To copy the books from a "Touch" sd card to the memory of "Clara" is it enough copy them through a PC or does it require other operations? Thanks Regards Enviado do meu SM-A516B através do Tapatalk |

Yes, you can simply connect one device and copy the sideloaded books to the PC, then connect the other device and copy the books to it. Or, connect both and copy them directly. When you disconnect the second device, it will import the books you copied.
You can't do this for books you purchased from Kobo and downloaded to the device. These need to be downloaded directly. Sync the two devices and the purchased books should appear on the new device with the same reading status and any annotations. But, is that all you want? If you also want to copy the reading status or annotations from the sideloaded books, you need to do other things. |

Your answer, which I appreciate, led me to another question, how to export settings and reading status or annotations. Thanks Regards Enviado do meu SM-A516B através do Tapatalk |

The reading status can be exported using calibre and my Kobo Utilities plugin. This can fetch the reading status from the device when it is connected. It can do this for all books that are on the device that match with a book in the library. This can be setup to be done automatically when you connect or manually for a selected set of books. It can also restore the reading status to a Kobo device. This can be a new device, or after a factory reset.
For annotations, there is no good method. These are stored in the database on the device. It would be possible to export them and import them to the new device. And some people have successfully moved the database from one device to another. There is a little bit of work needed for this and it has been discussed a few time in this forum. |

When I moved to the Libra 2, I did copy over all the eBooks and the database.
But do not copy the two Calibre files on the old Kobo as that will cause device detection to be wrong as it will contain the device info from the old Kobo. |

And for the record, if you are coping the books and database from one device to another, then you may as well copy the "metadata.calibre" file. In fact, you probably should copy it. You probably shouldn't copy the "driveinfo.calibre", but, it won't harm anything. |
