And waterproof. It's the first 6" waterproof Kobo since the Aura H20 and it'll be the only pocket sized waterproof device currently available.

The Aura H2O was 6.8 inches, not 6

Found that info on a Clara 2E listing on a Dutch website (wayback machine here for when it inevitably gets pulled ).
Here is it translated to English from the original website in case anyone wants to see the site.

Can't believe I left that out in the list of new features. I'll add that to my original post.

You mean the "only Kobo 6 inch waterproof device" available, correct? My PocketBook HD 3 is waterproof (I guess, technically, "water resistant").

I guess this means a Tolino Shine 4 may be coming soon. Although it looks like the Epos 3 and the Tolino version of the Sage haven't yet arrived?

USB-C is also a pretty big deal IMO. I'll be returning my Clara HD ordered a couple weeks ago in anticipation of this new iteration. I would imagine price will land between $129-$149 for 16GB variant.

"So it's basically the current Clara HD except..." made me think of "What have the Romans ever done for us?"

The wording was unfortunate. For me, "being a Clara HD, except..." was an attempt at a compliment. I like the design of the Clara HD. I now realize that it didn't come across that way, though.

I don't even have to follow your link, I still remember that scene from Life of Brian, even though I haven't seen it in 40 years, or so.

I left that out as well. Sorry. (I'll edit my original post again.) I'm not as a big fan of USB-C as some because most of what I use is still USB-A and it just means more cables.

You can get USB-A > USB-C cables. In fact, Kobo with a USB-C port comes with such a cable. The USB-A is on the computer and/or charger. It's not what's on the actual device such as phone, tablet, Reader, etc.

Isn't the screen different also, Carta 1200? So it's basically the current Clara HD, with basically everything changed.

I don't know about the Carta 1200 screen. I don't remember seeing that advertised, but I'm guessing you're probably right -- would this be the first 6" Carta 1200 screen?

I don't think of the Clara 2E as "everything has changed." I think of the Clara E2 as a Clara HD "with upgrades." What makes it a Clara, in my head, is its size and shape. Honestly, the new features don't mean a whole lot to me. I guess that's why I summed it up the way I did. If I didn't already own a Clara HD, the price difference (especially if the HD was on sale) would mean I would buy the HD instead. Since I do own a Clara HD, I really have no incentive to buy the Clara E2. But when my HD battery deteriorates (and if I can't find and install a replacement) it's nice to know that the E2 is out there.

At any rate, to me it's a compliment that the E2 is an updated HD. I'm more interested in the "Clara-ness" than I am in the updates.

If true, this is a substantial upgrade.

I guess you're right. What I should have said is that I have a ton of microUSB cables, having to get USB-C ones (and making sure I have the right cable with the right device) is just one more thing I have to worry about.
