That's not the format name. That's a file extension. I can call a file file.abc and it could be any format. Could be ePub. Could be KePub. Could be KF8. Could be PDF. and so on.

He didn't legally change his name, though. "John Wayne" was Marion Morrison's "stage name" and that's how everyone knew him. That was my point.

When downloaded with KindleforPC/MAC, all non-KFX eBooks come with .azw as the file extension. But when you download with your web browser, you do see the .azw3 extension.

Amazon should have used .kf8 as the file extension.

It's not something I worry about. I note that, in Calibre, you won't find KF8, it's AZW3 when converting from ePub to Kindle (unless you go with mobi).

I would like to add that the John Wayne costume in my post above actually had a nice blue. You can't really see that in the photo.

Yesterday I returned both of my Eras because of the light gradients, but I'm still very interested in the device. Therefore, I am still grateful for further reports on screen quality.

There is some mixed feedback on this on the German forums. Some find the light gradient unbearable, others notice it, but don't care or don't even see it. In principle, it is the same reactions that you can always read when a new illuminated reader with side LEDs appears.

My hope is that this is the usual variation in production and that there are quite acceptable screens.

So I'm looking forward to reading positive reports as well.

It probably makes sense to wait a few months so that production issues can be sorted out.

That's certainly good advice. In the past PocketBook was able to subsequently improve the quality of older models screens.
