I haven't had much luck with Koontz. Is this one of his better ones?

Have you tried reading Watchers? I enjoyed that one. Not the greatest writing in the world, but the ending is more satisfying than 95% of Stephen King's stuff.

Very tempting. I haven't been all that impressed with Meikle books but that is one of my favourite monsters. I've missed the freebie but I expect it will happen again so onto ereaderiq it goes!

I just finished reading this short-story and was extremely disappointed. It's labored and the pay-off is a long time coming.

This is merely my opinion, of course.

I enjoy some of Meikle's work, but this one didn't do it for me.

As you probably realize, Meikle engages in a LOT of promotions: He's doing his Chapbook series (of which Abominable is one among 20 titles, thus far); and, much of his work appears to be available in Kindle Unlimited 'purchases'.

Since it's worth every penny () you may wish to pick it up.

Much of his stuff is on sale for $0.99 right now. The one that is drawing my attention is Bad Appetites. Look at that cover!
