Best format for Libra 2
If I were to buy a new Libra 2 which ebook format (Epub, etc) would be best to use when transferring my Amazon books I have in Calibre onto it?

Are you going to apply patches to the firmware? That makes a difference to how KePub looks. One of the patches fixed the font size so they match in ePub & KePub. Last edited by JSWolf; 07-15-2022 at 04:43 PM. |

If you like hyphenation, I suggest you stall the better English hyphenation dictionary found at https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=252405

As to the idea that you must patch to make kepubs look good, that is a load of BS. Personally, I use both formats for different books, and have to look twice to work out which it is. And I have no patches at all. |

One patch that really works well is the patch to reduce the spacing between the words in KePub. KePub (IMHO) by default has too much space between words.

Personally I couldn't read either format without patching. Neither of them looks good out of the box IMO. But that's just fussy me, obviously YMMV. I'd also suggest to try both before deciding.
I prefer epubs on the Libra and kepubs on the Sage, but both devices are heavily patched. |

Nickel just has too much spacing out of the box. It's ridiculous

What format are your books in Calibre? Are they .mobi and .azw or have you converted them already?
Within Calibre, I'd say keep them all as .epub. You can use Kobo Touch Extended to convert the books to .kepub as they are being sent to the Kobo if you decide to use that format. |

What are the benefits of patching for epubs? The epubs on a non-patched libra 2 look okay to me.
