So, in the days after Prime Day(s), once those packages start hitting the front steps, will people regret what they bought in that rush of enthusiasm and start dropping the stuff off at Kohl’s? I’m not going to shop across the board, but I am going to keep an eye on my wishlist.
I'm not sure there's all that much overlap between people who prefer to buy new, and people who are willing to take a chance on refurb/seconds/returns/etc. Certainly an even smaller group when the new sale price is only a little higher than the warehouse price. For myself, while I've bought warehouse items on occasion (and my satisfaction has been variable), I almost always go for new, regardless of the warehouse offerings.

BTW, I consciously avoided much Prime Day browsing this time around because I'm trying to avoid impulse spending, but the few things I happened to need to order this week were all on Prime Day sale, so yay!

So what fun things did everybody get? I bought a Fire 10 for Mom and a Signature for me (unplanned). Also found out just before going to bed I could get a new Alexa plugin for $3.50 by ordering it on the Echo. If it wasn't so late, I would have posted here.

My sister reminded me to look for regular stuff being marked down as well, so snagged my chinese drama for $99 (down from $140) and the discounted DVD player I needed to play it (NTSC). Once I check out the DVD player and all is good, I can get the other chinese drama on EBay and Mom will have a lot of stuff to watch when she gets her foot surgery (2-3 weeks of staying off foot).

I'm with @issybird - I buy Warehouse stuff pretty often, and only once have had an issue, and the return was easy. It's true that sometimes the discount is miniscule, but I've gotten some pretty good bargains too.

And in my area, in addition to Kohl's, you can often drop off at Whole Foods, which is actually even closer to me. (Although I can't for the life of me figure out when they offer Kohl's and when they offer Whole Foods...another inexplicable Amazon algorithm....)

And I like the theory of keeping an eye out for stuff in the next few weeks! Don't know if it will work, but thanks for the thought!

Of course, this year, for the first time in a long time, I actually bought some things - mostly a new computer, since mine at home was getting really long-in-the-tooth. So now I'm going to try out Windows 11 - which, trying to look at the bright side, will get me a head start on it, I suppose, since someday, I imagine I'll have to implement it at work too.

Got some great deals last year but this time was almost a complete bust for me. I saved $25 returning and re-buying a cordless phone set; other than that just 3 of the 99 cent channel add-ons - Acorn. PBS and AMC (which apparently does not include Better Call Saul!)

My Prime shopping was a bit different this time around - no gadgets! I got 2 Rocketbooks (a Fusion and a Flip), pack of Pilot Frixion pens to go with, 4 cones of Lily Sugar'n Cream Cotton Cone Yarn 14oz, 2 pairs sunglasses. Have just come through a major medical trauma and am creating my new "normal" with hobbies that used to give me pleasure in my youth (apart from reading and audiobooks) - crochet/knitting and writing. Loving the new me.
Okay, the Rocketbooks *could* be classified as gadgets...

In addition the USB C dock I mentioned earlier, I got a three pack of antique brass metal wall plates for some outlets in the living room and an extra ink pen of the type I carry in my pants pocket. I did kind of need the wall plates, as that one wall is off-white with streaks of gold through the paneling and currently has brown plastic plates that don't match. The new ones should look much nicer, and were free thanks to that $12.50 gift card promo credit

The ink pen was solely to use the last of that credit. However, since I clip the pen in the corner of my pocket and the clip eventually breaks no matter how careful I am with it, it will get used eventually.

I started to buy a 65w USB charger & some USB C to USB C cables that were on sale to use with my Steam Deck, but passed because I was thinking the dock would do the job. The dock arrived today and it didn't come with a power supply, so now I'm regretting that decision. I can make do with what I have until they go on sale again, though.

Amazon paid me $24.50 and I returned their generosity by not buying anything from them. Instead, I spent my money at Best Buy. Thank you Amazon. Keep that free money coming my way, but be more generous next time.

I picked up a bluetooth speaker, a shortwave radio and a ham radio.

All basic and inexpensive.

Amazon gifted me $42.50 for jumping through some hoops. I didn't get anything fun, just a couple of shelving units and some shirts.

As each year goes by, frequent flyers get less and less of Amazon's free loot. One day, we'll enter this sale and find that we don't qualify for any of it

The plot thickens! I discovered I'd received a second email eight hours later about the promo and this time the link worked. I have a $2 reward good through July 18, 2022 7:00 AM GMT according to that page. (And I'm damn well taking a screenshot of it, just in case.)

So check your email, maybe you got lucky and got a second credit.

It's always their biggest sale ever

On Monday, I'll unsticky this thread and let it slowly sink to the bottom of the page.

Stay tuned, because Black Friday is but a mere four months away...

I have occasionally clicked on the Affirm promo link, and I either get a notice saying sorry, all gone, or a notice telling me I need to be signed in to get the credit. But there's no sign-in box. Just out of curiosity, what do you see when you actually get the credit?

The page looked slightly different at the top, not much but enough to alert me something had changed. (It might have simply been that the all credits taken message was missing.) When I scrolled, it didn't scroll normally, but in a weird way, such that it took a while to get it to the bottom of the page. Once at the bottom it gave me a notice saying I'd received the credit.

But you don't actually get the credit at that point. Instead you have to click on the link in the email about the credit. You finally get it after that page loads. (Unless it gives an error, like it did for me from the first email.)

It was insanely and unnecessarily convoluted. Can't say I was impressed with that promo at all.
