Calibre crashing?

This has happened a few times now and when I'm only looking to add one or two books at a time... I can put up with it. But I just got myself a new Kindle and need to transfer the entire library into the new device.

The problem is, I select the books I want and press "Send to device". Then anywhere from a few seconds later to a minute or so, Calibre just vanishes. I don't get an error message, Windows doesn't pop up with any warnings, it just closes as if I'd pressed Alt+F4. I then have no idea whether it's completed the transfers or crashed halfway through.

This happened with quite a few versions of Calibre 5.0 and now is happening again with 6.0. I tried fully uninstalling and then a clean install, but then importing the library backup probably restored something... I don't run any plugins, just one of the metadata plugboards to get the book series in the titles when transferring.

Can anyone help?

I'd suggest running calibre in debug mode and seeing if a log is produced when it crashes

What OS and Calibre version?

Try small batches (~20). You may be running out of resources as the batch needs to process the files, then transfer.

And why do people feel the need to put the whole Library on the device. Keeping ALL the books handy is what Calibre does.

Kindles are terrible at handling bulk eBooks in one go.
