I'm not certain if my problem is the one reported in this thread, but my recent update to calibre 6.0 - in viewing only - is this:
calibre, version 6.0.0 ERROR: Loading book failed: Failed to open the book at /Users/drib/Documents/Calibre for M1/William Meikle/Abominable_ A Creature Feature (The William Meikle Chapbook Collection 20) (56509)/Abominable_ A Creature Feature (The Willia - William Meikle.epub. Click "Show details" for more info. Failed to convert book: /Users/drib/Documents/Calibre for M1/William Meikle/Abominable_ A Creature Feature (The William Meikle Chapbook Collection 20) (56509)/Abominable_ A Creature Feature (The Willia - William Meikle.epub with error: DeDRM v7.2.1: Trying to decrypt Abominable_ A Creature Feature (The Willia - William Meikle.epub DeDRM v7.2.1: Verifying zip archive integrity WARNING: /Applications/calibre.app/Contents/MacOS/calibre-parallel is loading libcrypto in an unsafe way -- I was able to 'Send To Device' [my Kobo Libre 2] with no problems. The issue - as far as I can tell - seems to be with using the 'VIEW' option on epubs. ADDED: I see now that the post above mine indicates that I'm having the same issue that other individuals have reported. Thank you. Last edited by Dr. Drib; 07-12-2022 at 11:07 AM. |

Or just disable the DeDRM plugin until a version that works with Mac is released (which I assume will be very soon) if you don't want to go poking about in code.

I just installed 6.0 and my font appears to have changed. It is now a very light grey. As a senior with glasses, it is too light for me to see comfortably. I am talking about the main interface, not the ebook reader. I tried changing the theme from system to light and then dark. I like the light background. I would just like a darker, possibly larger, font. Is there somewhere that I can control this? Thanks for a great product.

I would like to make a suggestion regarding the 5.44 update check. I am running linux mint 20.3 x64 here and Qt6 is not available from my distros repositories. Given this, it is not appropriate for me to attempt the update to 6.0 here.
Could the update checker be improved to confirm all prerequisites are available before suggesting the update? Given that Qt5 is supported until 26 May 2023 this is likely to remain an issue on many distros for some period of time. It would also be nice if it could check if the installed plug-ins would continue to work, but as those are supported by their authors might be a bit much to ask. Dave |

Just out of curiosity, why has the letter changed from QT5 to QT6? Do you know?

I suspect it has something to do with Qt6's new high DPI code. They might be scaling the fonts or rendering them differently somehow, in the process making the letters a bit thinner. This idea is only a suspicion. I have no data to support it.
