I need to write down things g in order to remember them, that's why I wanted to have both a book to read (according to my level which is bad, but that's not the point) and a notebook to take notes of important points. I'm still 100% homeworking due to COVID, but it will be soon over and I'd rather travel lightly in the commutes. So being able to work only with my sage during my lunch pause seemed attractive. I don't pretend being better than anybody. In the process of learning, you have to choose an efficient way for yourself of studying. Kanjis need a lot of repetitions to stay in your mind. With my sage notebook, I could go back over the ones I have already seen. With Kanji on uneven pages and the meaning next page, I can test myself and see which ones I remember and which ones I need to work on

100% agree. If you purchase a Kodansha Kanji Learner's Dictionary or some Japanese Kanji Workbook, you can trace and practice the kanji on your commute. I think the Kobo Sage would be great for this.

I am using the Kobo Sage as a language learning tool now. I write the answers to the Quizzes on the textbook. Then I bookmark the Answer Key and check my answers.

In real life, I dislike writing on my paper workbooks. But on the Kobo Sage, it's easy to erase any markup.

I have been gifted a french version of "remembering the kanjis" (or something very similar), and that's what my sage notebooks are for

So do I ! I love my paper books being as new every time I open them. Notebooks are done for that use ! (and copying sentences on notebooks is both a way to improve my japanse writing and a way to remerber sentences or ways to construct sentences. Language learning needs a lot of repeat to "print" in your mind

Am I doing something wrong or is this functionnality not working with the Sage ?

Thanks in advance for your answers
I was bored so I snooped around the firmware and I think I found the URLs for the recognition data, but I don't have a Sage, so I don't actually know where they go or if sideloading without sync would work (or if these are actually all the files). Can someone with a Sage or Elipsa fill in the gaps?

From what I can tell, these files are definitely needed:

And then a language file. Here's the US English one:

But there are others like jp_JA, fr_FR and even fr_CA (just replace the locale in the link). I don't know how many different language variants there are though (I'm assuming at least one for each supported locale) and if it just downloads the language file for the locale you're using, or if it grabs all of them at once.

Does anyone with a Sage or Elipsa know what you're supposed to do with these once you have them and how many languages get downloaded? And if there are any other missing files?
