Publication date of omnibus editions

Just curious: how do people here handle it? Do they look up the original publication date of the first book in the omnibus? Or the publication date of the omnibus itself?

I would use the date the omnibus was published, as I do for collections of essays and short stories.

It is not only the first book.
If the omnibus is reprinted, I still use the first of that version.
