I don't know why I keep watching this, but I do. And I'm not ashamed that I do! Even with the incessant character/actor churn, I still love to watch this show.

Me too and it's daft, but I love it and look forward to it, too. I like the newest guy--to my mind, he's the best since the original. Did NOT love the Irish guy at all; his dialogue delivery always seemed to be like someone new to the stage--very stiff.

The original was definitely the best. Loved how they treated his exit. Liked him in Primeval with Douglas Henshall as well. Speaking of Henshall... I'm also in love with Shetland. He and Mark Bonnar are excellent in that, in my opinion.

I'll also typically watch anything with Sara Lancashire or Nicola Walker in it.

It's following in the footsteps of all those other offerings with similarly-funded-by-the-tourist-bureau plotlines--that Mallorca show (can't think of the name), the new Emilia Fox show (watch out, Umbria) and the like. All clearly created and funded by local Chambers of Commerce. I keep waiting to see some for oddball places 'round the world. ("Kim Jong Il presents, 'Murder in Haeju'!") LOL...

Yes, I like the scenery in it. Roger Allam and Nancy (???) seem like an unlikely couple. I also started it because of Roger Allam being in it, but this is not Endeavor at all! It appears that everyone is supposed to be French (by the last names given to them), but they are very English.

I watched the 3rd and last episode tonight and thought it was the best of the three. While I watched the other two I was doing things online and wasn't paying close attention. I just wanted to get back to watching Britbox. i have subscriptions to services I haven't been watching for a long time, including Acorn. I've been watching more HBO Max and a little Netflix. I watch a lot of youtube for livestreams. I should stop my Acorn sub. I can always resubscribe when I want to see something on it.

Thanks for the heads up. It looks like it was recorded correctly.

I really liked this season of The Umbrella Academy, I think it's my favourite so far. Instead of continuing with Sherwood immediately watched some true crime docs last night. Because tonight I'm going to watch the latest episodes of Stranger Things. After that I'll start Sherwood. I'm not sure what to watch after that. Maybe Succession or The Boys or maybe Gaslit or Yellowstone.

OMG, are you living in my house? I really like Shetland, and yes, Bonnar is top-drawer in it, too. I enjoyed Primeval--Mr. Hitch thought it was dorky and a kids' show. (He's a grouch, ignore him.)

I do like the new DIP (Death in Paradise) guy. He started out a bit too over the top, IMHO--they kept making the "new guy" dorkier and dorkier each time and this last newbie was just...a bridge too far--but they've really dialed it back. Still not the first dude, but of the also-rans, IMHO, the best. I was sorry to see whats-is-face from Red Dwarf leave, though. :-) (you can tell how old someone is by their Red Dwarf references...)

But, but, this is always the way! Whether ITC, BBC, etc. when one of those companies makes a show, bygod, all the players are Brits. LOL. I mean, ostensibly and clearly and unmissably British. :-)

The mysteries don't track worth a damn on the Provence show, but I pathetically have to confess I mostly liked it. Of course, it could just be that my "Cozy Mysteries Low Light" is flashing frantically. It's harder and harder to find watchable cozies. I'm at the point where I'm rewatching (yes, yes, I can hear the groans already) Midsomer Murders for the 3rd time, starting back with good old Episode 1. (There's a book series wildly popularized by the TV show, rather than the other way 'round. I hate to say it, but the show is hugely better than the books. There, I said it.)

Vis: Acorn: Murdoch. Pretty much, Murdoch and a few others. That show that is filmed in Kerala, India--the...damn, the hospital/soapy one?. And a few others. Given how cheap Acorn is, it's nearly worth it. And it's not like there's a surfeit of 'softer' watching around. I mean, on Netflix, everything is either hopelessly bizarre, hopelessly teenaged, or just...so graphically disgusting that it's unwatchable and I don't believe I have a really easily-offended stomach.

I'm still livid with Britbox for cutting me off on the Mrs. Bradley Mysteries. Granted, there were only, what, 3 of them? (Such a shame, Dame Diana Rigg was fantastic in it and Neil Dudgeon was perfect....)

I started to watch it again, and they abruptly moved the entire kit-and-kaboodle to Amazon, as a preview for BB and not for their own paid viewers. I'm still carrying a grudge about that.

I read the first MSM book and hated it. I had already ordered the second one, but it was lost in the mail and I was glad I could chose to get a refund instead of the store sending a new book.

I'm also on my third rewatch of MSM. I'm at season 10 now, just 78 more to go. I tend to watch an episode (or two) whenever I don't know what to watch or when I'm in the mood for something simple.

On cable we have a channel called BBC first, which specializes in British crime, most cozy, and not just from the BBC. My mother is currently addicted to that channel, so on the weekend we watch a lot of MSM, DIP, Miss Marple, Jonathan Creek and more.

Not to mention, but if the Book-Cully were my daughter, she'd be black and blue. What an (unspeakable word) she was.

Not that TV-Cully is a crapton better, but at least she's BETTER. (Plus, according to the books, Cully was supposed to be like, breathtakingly beautiful, like Liz Taylor, Charlize Theron-type beautiful. The young woman that played Cully in the series was okay, but hardly heart-stopping.)

I finished Stranger Things last night. A bit bummed out that one of my favorite character dies. But I can't wait for season 5. Hopefully there won't be another 3 year wait for it.

Tonight I'll start with Sherwood, which, if I like it, should finish tomorrow. After that I still don't know what to watch. There are just too many things I want to watch at the moment. And I must say I'm glad a lot of series aren't 20 to 24 episodes a season any more. With series that have that many episodes a season I tend to watch half of a season, then watch something else before finishing the series.

That being said, this month all 15 seasons of ER are going to be released on HBO Max in the Netherlands. So that's another series on my list.

I too found Caroline Graham's novels about Tom Barnaby to be...not very good!
In fact, downright poor mostly! If I had read the books first, I doubt I would have ever watched the Tv 'Midsommer Murders'. As it was, I watched every episode with John Nettles as Tom Barnaby and loved them. Once Neil Dudgeon was slotted in in his place, I abandoned the show. He may have been told to make his characterisation 'different' to John Nettles version; he managed to make his John Barnaby the most dull, morose and boring character going!
