Smile Non-book focused libraries

Hey all!

I finally began importing my knitting and crochet patterns into a new Calibre library. It's tedious, since I can't just "download metadata" but it takes away the ridiculous need to "organize" my patterns on my hard drive.

I thought I'd share a screen snip with you showing my custom columns for this library. I've only finished importing "shawls" (now, if I can stop finding MORE to download! ) and the process is sooooooo tedious. I suspect I'll end up doing "bulk" adds by category to get the category and the craft marked correctly -- and go back later to add yarn weight and yardage/meterage.

If my programming experience wasn't so antiquated (!), I might try to use the Ravelry API to make a plugin for Calibre. If someone out there IS doing this, please point me to them -- I'll be glad to be a guinea pig!

To appropriate a commercial phrase, "What's in your Calibre?"

I believe there's a member on here who uses Calibre for sheet music and the like.

Maybe someone has a gadget to create a CSV file from Ravelry data. If there is such a thing then you could use the Import List plugin to import the CSV into your calibre library columns.

The Index of plugins has a link to the Import List plugin.

I have the CSV file --- Ravelry has an "export my library" option. I'll look for the plugin and see if that will help! Thanks!!!!

It should help, ask any questions about use of the Import List plugin in it's thread in the plugins forum.

We interrupt this fun thread for COVID

Just wanted to pop by and say, "I haven't forgotten this." My entire household came down with COVID (happy 4th of July to me! ) I'm hanging in there, but eager to get to playing with this idea.

Hopefully, my brain will come back online -- soon!

Back to the drawing board

Well, the Import List plugin *might* have worked, except the CSV that I downloaded from Ravelry didn't have the details I expected it to. So, all I would have done was to create empty books that I would then have to connect to the PDFs manually.

If I do the entire thing (ugh!) manually, it's going to take me an eternity, but without a way to collect the information, it's the only method I can think of right now.

Thank you to those who stopped by with suggestions. I love the Calibre community -- y'all are always so nice!
