How to dissamble Onyx Nova Pro

Hi, and before anyone say something about the other post talking about how to dissamble the Onyx Note Pro, I saw it, but the Nova Pro doesn't have screws, so it's a different process.

I searched youtube and webs for a tutorial but didn't see it. As it doesn't have screws it is supposed to be assembled by pressure, but first tried from different points with a plastic dissassembling tool, which failed, so then tried with a plane screwdriver, and created a hole in the case.

Is there anyone here that knows how to dissamble it? Maybe a link to a tutorial?

Sorry, I don't own one so I really can't say.
Generally things today are two piece plastic snap together.
If you can figure out which way the tabs are pointing that can make things a lot easier.
That being said, some are very hard to open up.

(There are also the cases where a flat front panel sits inside a wrap-around (usually metal) rear case attached by adhesive tape. But I presume this is not the case.)

Can you get any good photos of the seam?

Don't have one but I have used speller knife or plaster spatula to open plastic cases before. Worth a try?

Know your enemy!
Sometimes the corners are the easiest, sometimes the worst.
If the USB connector spot has a cutout (instead of a hole) that might be a good place to start.
I mostly use single edge razor blades, sometimes a small pen knife when more force is needed.
Using a razor blade you can often detect where the tabs are, which makes life easier.
You may need "placeholders" (like guitar picks or cut-up old credit cards) to keep it from snapping back.

Boox Note battery replacement (0:58) ?

Well, as there isn't a clear answer, because most of the things mentioned here are things I tried or knew, and also there is already a mark made with a metal tool (because the plastic one had broken a bit), I will take risk again and try again. If I succes, I will tel the forum how to do it, if I fail and at the end I smash the rear panel, then I will be able to see which one was the correct way, but I will try hard to not arrive to that point haha

Did you manage to disassemble it? Mine has a broken screen, I'd like to open it too...

Hi Matthias and other users who posted here. Have been abandoned this for a while. In the meantime I achieved to dismantle the boox and also bought a battery, which arrived this morning.

Made some photos to show to you all how I did it and how it looks, although there is the post of matthias which also shows it. In my case, I use the triangular-sferic hard plastic tool use for this kind of electronic devices, but have had to go very carefully, because one of theangle's got kind of broken. I show to you the place I start using it, and then it's just keep going. You can help your self of another hard plastic tool (or a wide plane srewdriver) to prevent the case of closing itself when you are struggling on another part of the case.

Here it was my starting point:


Here is how morbidy inflated it was the battery:




And now I replaced the old 2800mAh battery for a 4200mAh, so I think it will be eReader for years.

Thanks! It's always interesting to see the gizzards of these things.
Although Onyx has moved on from Rockchip and I know nothing about their boot modes, still I note the clearly identified UART and the probable boot test points.
