I don't know about that... ZodWallop may have it figured out. The thing with typos is that you usually know what the word was supposed to be. I have no idea what "bills" was a stand-in for here.

As for typos — I'm old enough to remember when newspapers used to apologize for small typos in their stories. (Yeah, I'm that old.)

Bliss. Dunno what else it could be.

As to newspapers apologizing, they unlike Kobo write their articles, well except the ones from the AP directly. You’d want an apology from the publisher, though I guess kobo could apologize for hosting a book from a publisher who allowed a typo.

I'm not suggesting they apologize for a typo in a blurb, just commenting on how much the world has changed in the last 60 years (or so).

It was "bliss". The author (it's self-pubbed) has corrected it on Amazon but not on Kobo or Apple Books.

I'll not read that one. Thanks for sharing some humour Uncle Robin.

Allegedly 1/3 of Female or initial name Romance Authors are supposedly men. However bad taste and stupid writing knows no boundaries. I enjoy a good Romance story (IMO Sex and/or Erotic scenes detract).

I’m a glutton for punishment, it seems, as I couldn’t resist looking this up on Goodreads.

Quote:
I’ve never been the type of woman to have a casual fling. But after a fight with my boss that ended in a forced vacation and one too many drinks in the hotel bar, I found myself enjoying the company of a man who went by the name of Thorn.

A man whose accent I couldn’t quite place and whose black eyes could command anyone to do anything he desired.

We had seven days to enjoy each other.
Seven days of no commitments, no worries of the future, and no personal details to share.
Only, I returned with more than just memories and a few stolen photographs.
It’s no surprise that the blurb is semi-literate; the Kobo squib was as well. It got 3.93 stars and the glowing reviews were of similar quality: “literally married to her work”. “Make my heart & ovaries explode!!!” To which I say, ouch.

This is why I’m unwilling to give self-pubbed a tumble.

Yup. For romance, turn-of-the-last-century is my fallback; burning kisses are as far as I want to go.

I don't why I didn't think of "bliss" but that makes the most sense. Probably flipped the "I" and the "L" and then the spell checker compounded the error.

As a self-published indie, the slip could also be explained by the fact they are likely MUCH more intimately acquainted with bills than with bliss.

More than 1/2 of those on big publisher lists don't make advance in royalties. Maybe about 1% of authors on big publisher lists make a decent living from writing.

Of course telling stories is very rewarding, but might not pay the electric bill.

Spelling checks and grammar checking tools are no substitute for decent human proof reading.

True love is very expensive. A wife is the most expensive thing a man can ever have.

Eh? Most wives these days work full time, at least where I live.

To the extent that kind of thing was ever funny, it’s ceased to be. Misogynistic, much?
