				Libra 2 crashes

			Libra 2 stability / crashes

Set up a Libra 2 last night. Lovely device. However, experienced about three crashes when opening side loaded epubs. I regenerated all the books just in case in calibre. Think I saw one more crash after that. I solved the crashes by holding the power button down and turning back on. FW 4.3.0. WiFi is off. Is there any reason for this? Is there anything I can do to resolve stability? Normally I wouldn't worry, but it's a friend's device who is going on a long trip who knows nada about resolving tech problems. Hopefully the crashes will go away or be infrequent, but I'm mildly concerned. |

75 views and no answers. Based on this, should I assume that these occasional crashes are unknown, and as such, the device may be a lemon?

I have read in passing comments on libra 2 crashes, but it seems to be with FW 4.3.1. |

I use 4.30 firmware (had some font issues with 4.32, so i have downgraded to 4.30), i also have occasional hang up, only solution is to restart, but it's rare so it doesn't bother me so much.

I just bought a L2 last week and it bricked on an automatic update 5 min after opening up the box and turning the device on. Had to exchange it. New device has been stable running (post update) 4.30.18838 (which I have also patched, put screensavers in, and added multiple fonts) with 3k calibre side loaded books on it.

That's what I'm figuring with this one. I'm not too worried. I upgraded it out of the box and it only upgraded it to 4.3.0, which surprised me. But I'd read there were crash issues with 4.3.1, so I left it at 4.3.0.

I've had my Libra 2 since Christmas. I think it has crashed less than a handful of times. Once doing its out of the box firmware update, it crashed when running the previous to the current firmware version, and once reading on holiday when I'd left it out in a sunny spot for a while when we went for lunch, it must have been too hot and froze (ha!) and needed me to turn it off and on again. Mine is not crash pro e at all.

But now you can update to 4.32. I have not had a single crash or lock up with 4.32.

It's a good tip. Thanks. If she has problems, I can tell her how to do it.

BUT Did you have crashes on previous FW versions before 4.32? |

For the Libra 2, there have been some reports of other issues. Hangs, not being able to boot if WiFi was off, buttons not responding when reading (though that might be the Sage, or both). If the crashes only happen when reading, it suggests an issue with the book. Editing it for errors should fix that. There is one hang and reboot that could be trigged by a very large kepub when opening it the first time. |

My Libra 2 sometimes hangs when I'm changing the font and/or light settings. It's easily rectified; sometimes all that's needed is to close and open the sleep cover, failing that, just to turn it off and on again.

I tried the 4.32 update, but didn't like some weird things it did to the page turn buttons (if I'd been using the buttons to increase/decrease font or light settings, they continued doing this after those menus had been dismissed - until I restarted). Consequently, I reverted to 4.30, with patches. |
