For instructions, see Memory Upgrade Mod Guide. They are for the Glo, but the basic steps and tools are the same.

I had really succes with the KOBO GLO. With the new image file the e-reader is back to life again.
If it is possible I would have the image file for my Kobo Clara HD.

Need an SD card image for Kobo Clara HD
Hi,

Could anybody help me with an SD card image for Kobo Clara HD ? My eReader got bricked somehow - the LED keeps blinking but the reader nether boots nor it can be reset. I opened it extracted the SD card and read it on my computer. Mysteriously the root file system was still intact but both U-Boot, kernel and DTB images disappeared. It seems the easiest way to repair it is to get an SD card image and flash it.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Looking for the Clara HD Kobo Image for model N249

I found it odd that when the Kobo was just out of warranty that it became bricked during the latest update.

I have over 100 books on Kobo and feel cheated into potentially buying a new Kobo when the hardware is all fine. Sorry for the rant I would really appreciate the image.

@ManCandy: Firstly, you need to enable Private Messaging. This is in the "Edit Options" of the control panel. If this isn't there, it has to be added somehow. You can try posting in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=319819 to ask it to be enabled, or contact a moderator.

Secondly, are you accusing Kobo of deliberately causing your device to "brick" itself as soon as the warranty expired? If so, it is a clever trick of them, but a bit mean to pick on you and nobody else. If so, I am surprised you would want to fix when the company is so obviously evil.

Of course, I assume you have tried to get it going using one of the well documented ways.

Thank you @davidfor for your PM.

How did you create this image, with dd tool? Was it done on a brand new Clara HD or already used in the past? Then it could contain your book history in some deleted recoverable files, even if you did a reset, or it might contain your serial number, I'm not sure though.

This is a good solution for us with bricked devices, thank you again.

Is there also a way to have an official image from Kobo directly?
