No change. Still only three settings each for line spacing and margins in the latest firmware.

You have to go Kobo if you want multiple settings. Maybe others do it too, don't remember or know, but I just did major settings changes on my Aura One. Definitely a win for them on that front.

JB on Kindle Oasis Gen. 8 did not survive the update. I had to serial jailbreak my KOA again.

I have now used the new software.
When the new Paperwhites went on sale, I asked Amazon to credit the difference to my account since it has been less than thirty days from my purchase. They told me to return the one I have and buy a new one at sale price, so I purchased a second one. I was hoping the second one would have the old user interface like my first one does but it has the new interface. After using it, I like it less in real life than I thought I would from the pictures. In the pictures it looked like the control panel with the lighting feature covered three quarters of the screen. When I adjust the light, I am looking at the background and the text in the book, and slide it up and down a few notches to see what level looks best. From the pictures, I thought the bottom of the page is visible but it is not. Mesh markings come up at the bottom to meet the control panel that comes down from the top. The entire page is covered with the control panel that has the light level setting. After trying to set the light level, I come back into the book and am not happy with the light level and have to try it again. I hate this so much. Sometimes I jump around in a book and tried that. The only way I was able to get back to where I started from was setting a book mark or noting the page I was on. With the old interface it was always easy to get back to my place. I liked searches better with the old interface. After doing a search, I could select a result and go to it and then go back to the search results and choose another to go to. Now, once you go to a result, the only option is to jump to the next one, going back and seeing all the results is gone. The software is buggy. It totally froze after setting a bookmark. When it started working again, it started flipping pages on its own. I don’t understand why Amazon made the changes they did and hope future updates make the interface enjoyable to use again. |

I have developed 2 work-arounds. 1) Hit the Home button rather than Library. Then hit on the Your Library button in the middle of the screen and not the Library button at the bottom. You should then be at the top. 2) from any Library page, change your sort to something else and then change it back to whatever your sort previously was. You'll then be at the top. Both are stupid and we shouldn't have to do it, thanks again Amazon... ![]() |

Brilliant. Your second one works great. I didn't try the first as it seems more complicated than the second. Hopefully Amazon will fix it before too long.

Unless they have taken that away too, you can tap on the 20/99 on the bottom right of the screen, then type 1 (or any othet page number) and press the go button. You do the same to skip foward as many pages as you like. Quote:

This also works at only one more click! 3 workarounds now.

Apologies if this is an idiotic question (I've tried searching but haven't come up with an answer) - can anyone point me to where I could download a copy of the firmware update 5.14.1 (for Kindle Oasis 3)?
I can only find 5.14.2 on the Amazon website, & I am specifically after 5.14.1. Many thanks! |

Thank you for the reply j.p.s.
I must be missing something obvious though (a brain, perhaps?) - because when I right mouse on the url link for the update, it's given as: https://www.amazon.com/update_Kindle_Oasis_10th_Gen Apologies if I've done something silly. EDIT: um - so I used this url: https://s3.amazonaws.com/firmwaredow..._v2_5.14.1.bin Just wanted to check - is the v2 part correct, even though it's the 3rd version (10th gen) Kindle Oasis? Thanks!
