Calibre will run if you get out of that awful S mode.

I bought my Surface Go from Microsoft - at my request it came with Windows 10 Pro, at no extra cost.

Hello Jswolf, hello Betterred,
thanks for your answers. I want to use Windows S mode if possible, because microsoft says it´s running faster, but on your link they say thats not the fact.

@ BetterRed: do u run calibre on the surface go? Do you connect the reader with an USB C to Usb B micro cable.

Thank you verry much.

The techies at the MS brick and mortar store who upgraded my Go to Pro (in all of five minutes) scoffed at that claim. It's a marketing ploy to keep you locked up in their walled garden/closed shop.

My Surface Go is my e-reader.

I only keep the handful of books I'm currently reading and another handful of reference texts on it. I copy them manually from the library book folders to a couple of 'regular' folders on the Go over Wifi using a 3rd party file manager.

I do have calibre installed on the Surface Go, but I don't use the library manager component, just the ebook-reader, and occasionally the ebook-editor components. That's not because the library manager doesn't work on the Go, it's because I have no use for it on the Go.

I have a Microsoft Surface Pro 2 running Windows 10 Pro. I do sometimes use Calibre with it. The latest version of Calibre works no problem. If I did end up with Windows 11 S, I would drop the S mode ASAP. There is no way I would want a walled garden to make an expensive device almost useless.

S mode = Stupid mode
