Why have to use ModifyePub to convert KePub to ePub when it's easier to use the KoboTouchExtended driver to convert ePub to KePub?

Easier? I selected a group of books and then ran ModifyEpub against them. It doesn't get much easier than that.

As for why I went that route? I had the ebooks that had the kobo spans, etc. in their "authentic" from Kobo form. ModifyEpub was the quickest way when I was testing to remove the Kobo spans, etc. from them so I could compare the kepub and epub versions using RMSDK as the renderer. Ghod knows enough people have mentioned differences between kepub and epub on a Kobo ereader so I was curious about how the two would differ when using the same renderer. Oddly, on the half dozen ebooks I used for testing, there were no visible differences when using RMSDK to render both versions.

This, so to speak, let me compare apples to apples by using the same renderer in contrast to comparing apples to oranges by using two renderers.

BTW, my personal preference for converting epub to kepub is using kepubify with the --calibre option.

Although it sometimes doesn't seem like it, detailed help with removing DRM isn't allowed on MobileRead.

I must have missed this. Does this mean that the DRM in ADE 3.x and 4.x can now be decrypted by the DeDRM plugins, or is it only ADE 3.x for now?

It would be great if we could move up from ADE 2.0.1, because that one is a bear to get running under Wine in Linux. (Same for K4PC, but I managed to get 1.17 and 1.26 to run, which, IMHO, are the two important versions. 1.17 never downloads KFX, 1.26 is the last one where KFX can be decrypted; for now.)

Pull request 48 has been merged, but a new release hasn't been posted yet. It handles the "hardened" Adobe DRM which you can end up with using ADE 3 and up.

Ah, I saw that pull request. I didn't remember if it was in the latest release or not. I suspect it'll be in the next one. Thanks for pointing that out. It seems ADE 3.x is a lot easier to run on Linux/Wine than 2.01, so that would be nice. (I got 2.01 to run, but I don't know how exactly; so I'm trying to replicate this so it could be included in the Wiki. The instructions there don't work with newer Wine versions.)

Darn. I've been out of the loop for some time because I haven't bought any books for so long. I just got back into it since I really wanted to read some stuff from a particular author and I can only find the series on Amazon. (And so I got to installing K4PC on Linux, and thus got back into ADE as well, just to have it up and running...)

The ones I tested have the correct SHA-hash (same as the official Amazon-files). Still, these files don't come directly from Amazon so there may be unknown/suspect versions in that list, so downloading them is at your own risk.

Actually, they "fixed" that in version 1.35.

Version 1.36 is not yet available for download from Amazon. You were likely selected to be part of the initial rollout of the new version.

Of course they introduced the bug on purpose on version 1.35, they will not "fix it" on 1.36.

Yesterday, KindleforPC V 1.15.0 stopped downloading AZW3 and changed the library to AZW

I uninstalled and reinstalled.

I opted no updates

I changed renderer-test.exe to renderer-test.xxx

I don't know my next step with this WIN 10 machine
