I've been watching Julia (on HBO Max) about Julia Child and her WGBH show. So far they have 4 episodes up.
Last week I watched the 2021 West Side Story movie. Liked it a lot. I was thinking I liked it better than the 1961. The next night I watched the 1961 one which is also streaming on HBO Max. There are some things I love on that one. Also watched a documentary on youtube "The Making of West Side Story" which is about Leonard Bernstein recording it with opera singers Kiri Te Kanawa, Tatiana Troyanos, Jose Carerras and Kurt Ollman in 1984. Noticed that one of my flute teachers was in the contract orchestra (2nd flute -- Julius Baker played 1st flute). They didn't show the flutes that much, so I couldn't see who the 3rd flutist was. (You probably know that Leonard Bernstein wrote the music.) |

We don't watch many tv shows, but have been watching Ghosts lately. It's hysterical, and the writing is pretty top notch for a tv show. It was a British show first.
You need to watch it from the beginning, so you get the set-up for the show. There are a lot of characters, but it's handled well. No gore, sex, nudity, or constant F bombs, which seems to be all that is on now. Baseball is back, so that is what is usually on, aside from Jeopardy, and the final puzzle on Wheel of Fortune. |

The last couple of nights I've been watching The Dropout. Two months ago I watched the documentary about Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos, so I know the story. But it's still a good series. Though it is one of those series I can't binge, just one, sometimes two episodes a night.

I finished The Dropout and it seems they toned down the story compared to what was told in the documentary.
I started Station Eleven last night. So far it's interesting and a good series to watch whilst cross stitching. |

Watching the original series of 'Star Trek'. Good stories, dodgy acting, wobbly sets etc. Great fun for a sci-fi adict! Many years since I last saw hese.

I finished Station Eleven a couple of nights ago. It’s a good series, but I’m not sure I liked it.
I now started a rewatch of the British series Whitechapel. I watched it when it first came out and liked it. I came across it a while back and thought it might be worth a rewatch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I also discovered that most Time Team episodes are available for free on YouTube. So if I need a comfort watch that'll be my go-to for a while. There is one episode that was taped in my city (Utrecht). Back then it was a pasture, now it's a newish suburb. |

Continuing with Whitechapel. The first season (three episodes) focus on Jack the Ripper, the second season (also 3 episodes) deal with the Kray twins. The third season is six episodes and doesn't have a central crime they focus on. Instead it seems that each two episodes focus on a crime. I'm not sure where the first two episodes got their inspiration from. The second and third episode were inspired by H.H. Holmes' Murder Castle. Which is and American crime.
I don't mind the two episodes per case format, that's pretty standard in multiple British crime series. But it would have been better, IMHO, if they would have stuck to historical crimes in London, or at least historical UK crimes. |
