I followed the suggestions here and contacted kobo.

I explained what happened to my Libra 2, and I am now entitled to a replacement.

So far, I've discovered that the only update that will work from 4.30 is a manual update to 4.31; any OTA update will fail. This makes me think that something might already be going wrong during the 4.30 update after all - as if that leaves the firmware partition in a bad state.

Are Kobo FW updates incremental, or should I be able to go straight from 4.28 to 4.32 if I did it manually? I'm asking because I've noticed that setup via the Kobo app always seems to go from 4.28 to 4.30.
In my case, my 4.30 Libra 2 would only update via OTA to 4.31, and after that I was able to update manually to 4.32. Manually updating from 4.30 to 4.32 caused the same issues that you have experienced (update not sticking, reboot when disconnecting from USB etc.), which I was able to fix only by resetting the reader to factory default.

Seems to be working well enough, though it did just randomly reboot itself while I was reading a while ago.

I updated to 4.32 just now via OTA and for some reason all my sideloaded fonts are gone (I can't select them on the font selection pull down menu in the books). I plugged in my device to my computer and saw the fonts are there. I'm unpatched and this has never happened to me before, any help would be appreciated!

They've moved sideloaded fonts to come after the embedded ones in this version. They should show if you tap the down arrow at the bottom of the list when selecting fonts.

That's the issue, there's no down arrow. All I'm seeing are the embedded fonts

When you look at the fonts folder on the device, are they in a subdirectory of the fonts folder? Move them to the top level of the fonts folder. That solved a similar issue I was having.

Yes, literally just noticed that too. Thank you, fixed now!

I have no idea what's going on with your Libra 2, but that is not how mine works. 4.30 was installed when I registered. I went directly to 4.32 visa a manual update. I've never had any of those problems.

My replacement Libra 2 is now shipped. I am just curious why it was shipped from Tholen, Netherlands when there are nearer kobo bases to the Philippines. Should i expect a unit with a different affiliate like fnac instead of the general unit with no store affiliate logo when it boots?

Random guess is it’s just where customer support replacements ship from for a given region. Hard to imagine other reasons given the Libra 2 is a current product so they’d likely have it in stock in those bases.

As to the affiliate I’m pretty sure my devices have had different affiliates and they all came from Kobo in Canada with the exception of my Libra 2 which I ordered off Amazon (blueproton shipped and sold though I don’t know where they get their supply from).

Has anybody else had instances of the font selector dropdown taking several seconds to open? I don't have any sideloaded fonts.

I just tried this - did a full factory reset, hooked up the device to the PC without starting the Kobo app and dropped the files for 4.32. After the typical update screens this resulted in a blank screen with a blinking white power LED.

This is starting to look more and more like I should be asking Kobo for a replacement after all. I'll have to see how their support works in Germany, since they're not officially on the market here.

Do the bugs in 4.32 mostly seem centered around the Libra 2 and the Elipsa? It seems that way based on the posts I've read so far.

Instead of attempting to manually (via usb) update from 4.30 to 4.32, i decided to try it via wifi. My starting 4.30 install was kobopatched.

The first wifi update did download and install. However, on checking settings the firmware version was still indicating 4.30 (and an update available) even though the standard update dialogue listing the 4.32 enhancements displayed immediately after the "update".

So.. from settings, i did another wifi update. The second install took and the settings reflected the 4.32 version. USB worked too (and i have subsequently updated with my kobopatch settings).

i suspect the first time around, when i attempted to manually install 4.32 via usb and found the firmware version number unchanged and usb not functioning, that updating via wifi for a second install probably would have resolved whatever it is that was incomplete, causing the version number not to change (and the usb issue).

Weird that Libra 2 updates for version 4.32 have been so different for some and require a second install.
