The released version of the KoboTouchExtended driver will not work with calibre before v5. It uses features of Python 3 and calibre that are not in the older version. You can get older versions of the driver and related plugins from https://github.com/jgoguen/calibre-kobo-driver/releases. Version 3.2.15 should work with calibre 3.48.

There are two choices of what you can do.

The first is to use the version of the KoboTouch plugin linked by @PeterT above, named KoboTouch348. This will allow calibre to manage the Libra 2. Then, use the 3.2.15 version of the Kepub Output plugin and convert the books to kepub before sending them to the device.

The alternative is to edit the version of KoboTouchExtended driver work with the Libra 2. That means changing it to inherit from the KoboTouch348 driver. Or adding the device lines in that driver to the KoboTouchExtended driver.

How long ago was it that you for the Kindle Japanese dictionary better? Kobo did switch to better dictionaries at some point. I don't know if the Japanese dictionary for Kobo is not better or similar to the one for Kindle.

WRONG! You will not gain anything as for as a Kindle and library eBooks go. You get to borrow library eBooks using a Kobo perfectly well. Overdrive does support ePub and so does Kobo.

But the way most people do the email, they end up with Mobi format and actually lose features.

It was shortly after the change. It wasn't a problem with word definitions so much but selecting words now that I remember. Kindle was much better at selecting the actual word while Kobo would grab a character so then you have frustratingly select the rest of it. Perhaps they improved that IDK. They also don't even have a Japanese-English dictionary option unlike Kindle, just English-Japanese and Japanese-Japanese.

I realise that I already have the KoboTouch plugin, I put that on shortly after receiving the Libra. I've managed to get Kepubify to create kepubs, but have now lost the knack of making the images grow larger.
