Your average person wouldn't be able to tell you what a serif is either. But it is still noticeable in the layout.

Kobo really does need to work on kepub layout.

Hmmm... ragged right (AKA left justified) or justified with no microjustication. There's ugly and there is as ugly as homemade sin. The problem with fully justified text on an ereader is that makes me want to re-watch A River Runs Though It.

Unless your reading program supports microtypography features, when in doubt, align left.

Can't stand left-aligned text on an ereader. Even rivers are preferable to that.

I disable all hyphenation. Can't stand that either.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure I want my text justified because paper books are justified and I got used to it when I still read them. On a tablet or a laptop it doesn't matter, the aspect ratio is too different.

But I don't think about paper books as "real" books. A book is its content, not its container, in my book. And ofc everyone can and should customize the container to their liking, even center-aligned, if for some mysterious reason they prefer that.

I have no beef with the left-aligned crowd, as long as I can read my fully justified and non-hyphenated ugly text, with rivers running through it.

Kerning is on by default. Just go read ePub.
