More than two years later, again $1.99 in the US...

The link below in @Fbone's post is still good for Kindle, and here's for Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-shape-of-water-2

Love this series...

This title is also in the omnibus, Death in Sicily, which was on sale quite a while ago, so check carefully before you buy!

The Little Friend by Donna Tartt is $1.99 at Amazon US.

Quote:
The second novel by Donna Tartt, bestselling author of The Goldfinch (winner of the 2014 Pulitzer Prize), The Little Friend is a grandly ambitious and utterly riveting novel of childhood, innocence and evil.

The setting is Alexandria, Mississippi, where one Mother’s Day a little boy named Robin Cleve Dufresnes was found hanging from a tree in his parents’ yard. Twelve years later Robin’s murder is still unsolved and his family remains devastated. So it is that Robin’s sister Harriet—unnervingly bright, insufferably determined, and unduly influenced by the fiction of Kipling and Robert Louis Stevenson--sets out to unmask his killer. Aided only by her worshipful friend Hely, Harriet crosses her town’s rigid lines of race and caste and burrows deep into her family’s history of loss. Filled with hairpin turns of plot and “a bustling, ridiculous humanity worthy of Dickens” (The New York Times Book Review), The Little Friend is a work of myriad enchantments by a writer of prodigious talent.

Why Didn't They Ask Evans? is a non-series titles that is one of my favorite Agatha Christie books. (Actually, several of her non-series books are among my favorites of all her books...)

I especially like the interplay between Bobby and Frankie as they figure out what's going on, while dealing with various mildly disapproving parental figures. It kind of reminds me of some of Heinlein's "juveniles", which are still great fun for adults to read too. In any case, Evans has dropped to £0.99 at Kindle UK as part of today's Daily Deal.

Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0046A9MZO
Kindle UK/Smile: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0046A9MZO

Spoiler:
Quote:
When a man plunges down a cliff, two adventurous young friends decide to find his killer…

While playing an erratic round of golf, Bobby Jones slices his ball over the edge of a cliff. His ball is lost, but on the rocks below he finds the crumpled body of a dying man. With his final breath the man opens his eyes and says, ‘Why didn’t they ask Evans?’

Haunted by these words, Bobby and his vivacious companion, Frankie, set out to solve a mystery that will bring them into mortal danger…

The omnibus is now $0.99/£0.99 at Kindle US/UK. It's a Countdown Deal at that price for about 6 more days. If you didn't buy these before, now's your chance for super-cheap ...

The remaining two titles are not too badly priced as is at $3.99/£2.99, and there's also an omnibus of all four for $5.99/£4.99, if you want to get them all at once. These were originally published under the pen name Philippa Morgan, but I couldn't find much info on those editions - I'm guessing Gooden has gotten the rights back and is re-publishing them himself.

I ran across a “boxed set” of the first three Erast Fandorin Mysteries, The Winter Queen, Turkish Gambit, Murder on the Leviathan at Kobo UK for only £2.99. If you don’t know these, they’re quirky historical mysteries/thrillers set in 19th century Russian; each is written in a different style. Very good, IMO, and you pick up a fair amount of history while you’re at it. I didn’t check the Amazon UK price but I’d guess it’s the same.

The Glitter Dome by Joseph Wambaugh is $1.99 at Amazon US.

Quote:
A New York Times–bestselling police thriller by the author of Harbor Nocturne: Two LAPD detectives look into the murder of a Hollywood studio boss.

It’s the wildest bar in Chinatown, run by a proprietor named Wing who will steal your bar change every chance he gets. On payday the groupies mingle there with off-duty LAPD cops, including homicide detectives Martin Welborn and Al Mackey, who get assigned the case of a murdered Hollywood studio boss who may have been involved in some very strange and dangerous filmmaking. Hilarious at times, heartbreaking at others, this book was likened by theNew York Daily News to a “one-two combination that leaves the reader reeling.”
