Scribd -- Price Increase???

Has the price for Scribd gone up? It's showing as $11.99/mo on the website. I was updating links on the home page and it showed $9.99/mo, then a few minutes later it was $11.99/mo. I did a Google search and can't find any info about a price hike.

It has indeed gone up to $11.99 plus tax for the monthly sub. However, gift subscriptions are better value, 6 months for $50 or 12 months for $100, link is here. I believe you may gift yourself if you do not have an active subscription. I am lucky enough to be grandfathered in at $8.99 which is the cost when I first signed up a couple of years back.

When did the price increase, any idea? My libraries have more than enough books to keep me happy, so Scribd is not an option for me.

The Scribd increase seems to have happened very recently, like in the last two days. $8.99 to $11.99 in two years is a drastic increase for the same product (the perks haven't changed, never mind improved). Worth it for me as my local library (smalltown, Mississippi) has a very limited selection of digital and print media. Brooklyn Public Library costs $50/year for out-of-state members, that's a good deal too.

I was charged today at 9,99 $.

I noticed before that Scribd has several prices at the same time, I just checked and opened the site using chrome and it showed 11,99 €, then I tried with edge and it showed 10,99 €, I had noticed this before, there’s a post in mobileread somewhere about this, I remember having asked if someone had noticed this differences a while back.

Last week when I was on the site looking for new books there was a message for an offer for 6 months, I didn’t click on it right away and when I decided that it was indeed a good offer (it was less than 8$ a month) it had disappeared, I tried going back but I never saw it again, next time have to be quicker to decide.

I always take the comments with a grain of salt, I’ve been a member of and on since 2014, and the only complaint I have is that their search engine is not very good, never had problems with payments, and trough this period I have canceled the service several times, I also enjoyed several free trials.

It is true that to cancel you have to confirm that you want to cancel several times until you reach the end and receive the confirmation of cancelation but audible also does that.

Even if they wanted to charge me more they couldn’t, my account is linked to a virtual credit card and it is setup to allow only one payment a month under 10 € and when I cancel the service I cancel the virtual card so no more payments can be charged. All my subscriptions are treated this way, to avoid any kind of problem.

But as mentioned I do find it odd that they show several different prices at the same time.

I ask because at one time the Daily Deals were open to anyone, then Audible required a paid membership to get the deals and the deal price was no longer visible to non-members. Now it's visible again and I'm wondering if Audible opened up these deals to non-members once again.

I tried to check, but apparently I have the Kindle ebook forgotten in library, so I'm being offered a $1.99 WfV price.

Actually, I had the Audible Plus plan (which was a special price), but when I learned that I could not download the audio books - only stream them - I cancelled. However, my cancellation will not occur until April 20. I'm technically still a member until that date. When that date occurs, I'm hoping to subscribe to the Premium Plus with some kind of special offer or special discounted price.

As it stands, I can upgrade right now for $7.00 for the first month (and get one credit, I presume), and after that it's $14.95 each month. (Is that a good deal?)

To specifically answer your question: I could have streamed it for free, or I could have bought it. I decided to buy it. I have Audible.US, which works fine with my card, probably due to the fact that I use my sister's address.
