Although it took me a while to set up my laptop it wasn't as bad as it once used to be. When you needed to reinstall Windows semi-regularly (can't remember the last time I needed to do that) and you had to sit behind the computer most of the day with a huge stack of cd-roms/dvds to install all your programs. You constantly had to switch the discs, especially for games. Last night I just had to download the software and install it. I was able to watch a movie doing this without missing anything.
It also seems I can now make do with a lot less programs and apps. I've only installed one game, others will be added when I feel like playing them. |

Just been to our local supermarket to grab a couple of essentials. They had neither one in stock, but promise they will have them by tomorrow!

Looking into getting an extra external hard drive. My 2TB is filling up, mostly with my movie library, but also with back ups of my music and photographs. I want a separate one for my movie library.
So now I'm looking into if an external SSD drive is worth the price; a decent 4TB HDD is just over 100 euros, whilst a 2TB SSD is 250 euros. I don't need the SSD because it's less fragile; my laptop lives mostly in one place, and I don't take the drive with me. But it might be (a lot) fast. Which might come in handy when streaming movies I'm guessing. I think I'll clean up my video library first. Delete the files I have no use for anymore and also delete empty folders that Plex likes to leave behind. It's one of those chores I have been needing to do for a while, but it's such a tedious chore. |

Earlier this week I took my first proper walk since running Christmas errands on December 24. I've been getting cabin fever for a while now, and Wednesday was a gloriously beautiful day and my back wasn't feeling too bad.
I wore a thicker cardigan, a scarf and a warmer jacket than two months ago. And I didn't sweat or was out of breath for a while after. I did walk a little bit slower, I didn't want to overdo it too much for my back. But still. My average and top heart rate were also lower than when I had the (chronic) pancreatitis. Most people don't understand that the excessive sweating wasn't just an annoyance but something very frustrating and shameful. I did overdo it a little bit, yesterday my back was more sore than it has been for a while. But it was worth is. From tomorrow we're going to get nice weather for while. On Sunday my preferred walking route will be busy, but on Monday it's usually quiet in the city and the weather will be perfect for a walk. Hopefully spring will arrive soon, and I can get out on my bike instead of the home trainer, that getting boring. |

Preparing for another walk later this morning. I'll also run some errands on the way back and I think I might treat myself to a nice take away lunch. When I get back I'm going to try and finish my current book.

(sigh).
One of my options-trading fellow Lab members just can't get this one concept and we keep having to go over it and over it, with little forrader progress. My head is killing me. I am super-fond of him, but he gets excitable and I worry that he'll never 'get' it and something like that could cost real money. Hitch |

When I got my new Kindle, I promised my mother she would get my old Kindle. But I've never followed up on that.
So this morning I'm wiping my old Kindle, updating my mother's Calibre Portable and putting all her books on the new Kindle. It turns out we can't access her old Amazon account, because she got a new email address and old one isn't accessible anymore and you can't contact Amazon.nl easily. So a new account has now been created. Luckily I Apprentice Alf-ed the books she has bought in the past and have back ups of those. |

Watching Canada play Jamaica in a World Cup qualifying game. Canada is currently leading 2-0 and with a win or tie, is into the next round.

Pixie cat loves to follow the mouse arrow on the screen - working from home takes on new challenges with a cat - who has learned never to touch the keyboard.
