I maybe the only calibre user who edits metadata, in the book list, in the Dark

@BetterRed: Did you find the new option you asked for to "skip" composite columns when editing on the booklist and pressing the tab key (Preferences / Look & feel / Edit metadata / Tab key doesn't edit column templates in the book list)? If so then you probably noticed that the columns aren't actually "skipped". Instead it pseudo edits them using a read-only box. The reason: I couldn't find a way to actually skip them without throwing you out of edit mode, which was the problem you asked to be fixed. This way QT 'thinks' they are being edited so another tab moves you to the next column, still in edit mode.

Thanks for the reminder.

With the setting checked it works as you describe. I don't mind that does a pseudo edit rather than a skip, in fact I think I prefer it. My only suggestion would be to shorten the displayed string to "template".

To remind myself of what my issue was, I did a test before I set the Tab key doesn't… preference, and I noticed the Template Editor has accelerator keys for OK and Cancel. It would be nice if that was replicated in the standalone long text (comments) editor.

@BetterRed I always get a chuckle seeing screenshots of your test library.
