Will do.

I need to finish my current book and then I have Stevie King's 11/22/63 next on my dance card. So it'll be a little while.

The painted Hobbit was beautiful. I'm surprised there wasn't a digital release of that one yet.

When you mention The Ring of the Nibelung, I'm guessing you mean the Roy Thomas/Gil Kane adaptation? I enjoyed that one and wish there was a digital version.

Have you seen the P. Craig Russell version of The Ring? Who'd have thought The Ring of the Nibelung opera cycle would receive two comic adaptations?

Russell has adapted several operas in the past. His work is spectacular.
Yes, I do mean the Thomas/Kane version. The P Craig Russell versions looks much more my style than the early Chaykins (I was never that enamoured of 4-colour). I have to say that I'm rarely picking up comics these days, paper or digital.

Wait, the early Chaykin was Fafhrd. The P. Craig Russel is The Ring.

Yeah. I've never been a fan of alternate history, so I just haven't read it yet. Same reason I haven't read Stephen Baxter's Voyage. I will likely enjoy both.

With 11/22/63, I forgot it was adapted as a TV series. I'm planning on watching it soon, but want to read the book first.

I'll also be watching The Outsider, though I wasn't wild about that book.

I haven't read the book, but I wasn't wild about the mini-series. The first 2 episodes are great, but then it turns into a real slog. It's easily about 4 episodes too long.

Lots of stuff in the Amazon.com US daily deal, including many Brandon Sanderson and Leigh Bardugo novels.

I will highlight A Master of Djinn by P. Djèlí Clark, $2.99 - Link
I bought it a few days ago, which probably triggered this sale, so you're welcome.
The other short stories and novella set in the same universe are excellent.
Quote:
Cairo, 1912: Though Fatma el-Sha’arawi is the youngest woman working for the Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments and Supernatural Entities, she’s certainly not a rookie, especially after preventing the destruction of the universe last summer.

So when someone murders a secret brotherhood dedicated to one of the most famous men in history, al-Jahiz, Agent Fatma is called onto the case. Al-Jahiz transformed the world forty years ago when he opened up the veil between the magical and mundane realms, before vanishing into the unknown. This murderer claims to be al-Jahiz, returned to condemn the modern age for its social oppressions. His dangerous magical abilities instigate unrest in the streets of Cairo that threaten to spill over onto the global stage.

Alongside her Ministry colleagues and a familiar person from her past, Agent Fatma must unravel the mystery behind this imposter to restore peace to the city—or face the possibility he could be exactly who he seems…

I was quite surprised. My favorite part of the book was the romance. And, unlike most King, it didn't all fall apart at the end.

Heads up on the Chronicles of St. Mary's series:

I bought the first book of the Chronicles of St Mary's book back in 2014. But when I go to that book's page now it doesn't show as purchased. Apparently she struck a deal with Hachette sometime between then and now. So anyone who got these books when she was an indie author should be careful prior to purchasing these books since the old listings are gone now and the new listings don't indicate prior purchases. This probably only applies to the first few in the series.

For what it's worth, my track record isn't anything to go by. I remember not being enthused about Misery when that was new. If anything, my hesitancy towards 11/22/63 is probably a point in its favor.

According to one of the reviews, three of these stories are Earthsea related.
