Does the Kobo Store Ever Have Sales on Ebooks?

In the 8 months since I've switched from Kindles to Kobos (Forma), none of the ebooks I've put on my wishlist in Kobo's store have gone one sale. Granted, it's only four books. But, does Kobo ever have sales on their ebooks?

I've picked up books on sale pretty much every week. It depends on what you are looking for. Please note that if the book you want is on sale elsewhere (Amazon, Google, B&N, etc.), Kobo will price match. I've used that fairly often especially since Kobo will match an Amazon 1 day sale price.

Yes, they do have sales and if you are on their emailing list you will get emails about sales. They just may not be on the books you have on your wishlist....

Once or twice I have actually received an email from Kobo letting me know something on my wishlist was on sale. I have wishlists saved on a couple different ebook stores. Usually what I do is just scroll through them occasionally to see if anything is on sale. I've gotten a number of books cheaper that way. In case you haven't found it yet, there's also an ongoing thread in the deals forum where people post Kobo coupon codes. |

OK. Thanks, all. I guess I'll put my books back on my Amazon wishlist and watch for sales there. I didn't know about the price matching.

While this won’t tell you about specific books you want bookbub will email you daily lists of books on sale for particular genres. I’ll warn that they generally are not going to be big name authors, but it takes fairly little to glance at the list while eating breakfast. They’ll let you know the stores offering the sales as well.

For kindle books only, as far as I can tell, there's also ereaderiq. I have 3 tabs always open with different filters on each one which I check daily for books that are $0. I get at least 7 books a week; can't keep up but I'm not complaining since I'm fussy and stop reading a book if it doesn't engage me.

And if you still have an old Kindle, even dead, it can be used to buy books on Amazon and read on the Kobo as long as it is still registered.

I've been watching Bookbub, too. It looks like they changed their interface in the last couple of days.

I've still got my old Kindles, but I don't think it's necessary to download to them. I'm assuming if I bought a Kindle book, I could go to Content and Devices and then download via USB to the computer. From there, into Calibre and over to the Kobo. |

I only physically use my Kindles to test new ebooks I'm building for publishing, though you actually upload an epub2 to Amazon KDP. |

I use an older version of Windows for PC to avoid KFX format (version 1.17 available here). If you decide to do that, just make sure you immediately (and I mean IMMEDIATELY) adjust the settings or stupid Kindle for PC will automatically download the newer version while you are still trying to sign in. |

Yes, that a plan for Windows users. I used various versions of Windows from 1991 to 2016 approximately. Then 100% Linux (which I'd also been using since 1998) . An older K4PC did work on WINE for a while on Linux and then refused to log into Amazon. Fortunately I have physical Kindles.

You could buy at any store that sells epub. Kobo isn't a closed system. You might need to get through ADE (depending on your Calibre set up) and sideload, though.
