Help with broken Clara

As the title says, I dropped my Kobo Clara and when I picked it up the screen was all white with a crack at the bottom corner. It now turns on but I want to make a calibre backup, but I'm unable to tap on the connect button (yes I know I should have reapplied the auto connect patch but oh well...)
So, the question is... Is there any way to connect the Clara? As of right now, it doesn't even seems to be detected by the computer, it doesn't make the sound when you connect an USB, nor is it listed on device manager

Open your Clara
Take out the sd card en put it in a cardreader
Connect the cardreader to your computer
Calibre recognizes your cardreader as your Clara and you can make a backup

What trick are you using to do that? As far as Windows or any Linux box I have used is concerned, the computer sees the SD card as an SD card. Calibre won't do anything with it. It just sees a card and needs to be told what it is. And of course, Windows does not like removable media with multiple partitions, so it will complain.

@fedex-bermu: What you do depends on the state of the device. If it is starting, reaches the home screen and responding to input, you might be able to do things based on that. Your screenshot suggests that the screen is updating. And the bottom-left quarter suggests that it is recognising the computer. But, the cracks might mean the touch is not working. The "Connect" button is there, so if touch is working, it should connect to the PC.

If the touch is not working, you could try some of what @LinuxArie suggested. Take the card out and put it in the computer. Then you can backup what you can see. Or you could edit the config file and add the auto connect USB line and put the card back in the device. After that, it might connect when you plug the device in.

No tricks. I made an image of the sd card and that card was recognized as a Kobo

I just changed my sd card (again) for a larger one and followed the video attached. After completing the image back up, as stated above, the image/sd card itself it was seen as the kobo device by my pc

Your Clara HD has a broken screen. The problem you may be having is that you may not be able to press connect when you plug the Kobo into the computer. The only way to get everything off is to do as was said in the second post.

Unfortunately it's time to buy another Kobo.

Update on this issue, so that in the future if anybody has a similar problem at least knows how I managed to solve it.
The screen was unresponsive, so touching the connect button wasn't a possibility.
Next, plugin the SD into my laptop saw it like an SD, with multiple partitions. Although on one of those partitions were all my books, I wanted calibre to make a database backup, update my reading positions, etc. Which was not possible because it was not recognized as the Kobo Clara.
Next, I tried to add the autoplug option in the Kobo conf but still it refused to auto connect, so as my last option I tried to run the Kobo patch and move the Kobo root.tgz with the autoplug enabled, and after a reboot of my broken Kobo I was able to connect and be detected by calibre. I know is such a niche problem, but maybe someone in the future has a similar problem and wants calibre to backup his progress, so this is the only way I could solve it.

Thanks to everyone that tried to help me!

New Kobo Clara Is dead

Today I received a brand new Kobo Clara HD from the official online store. After a few hours, I unpacked and tried to turn it on. I couldn't turn it on, apparently the battery is low. I connected it via usb for charging and waited. After three hours, I checked - there is no charge and checked the wire - my old phone is charging. I tried charging from different chargers and wires available at home, 0.7 A - 2.0 A 5 volt. Clara doesn't wake up. What else can I try to do without removing the reader cover so as not to lose the warranty?

Plugging the device in should trigger it to start. That usually only takes a few seconds, but, occasionally will take longer. There is an LED inside the power button. It should turn on when the device is plugged in. If the charger and cable work for other devices, and the device isn't starting and the power LED is not coming on, it suggests the device is faulty and should be replaced.

Thank you for participating, my friend. Yesterday, the device was like a brick: it did not charge and did not turn on. I changed the wires and chargers and performed dances around Clara, kept charging for a long time and pressed the switch in different ways quickly, for a long time and for a very long time. Clara was like a log. I put everything in a box and called the Kobo hotline. They kindly agreed to exchange my device for a new one and were very apologetic. Thanks for that. Today, before going to the post office, I got Clara, connect it to the wall via the iPad adapter and 5 times with an interval of 2 seconds. I pressed power. Clara took pity on me and started to come to life and showed about 25% charge. I registered in Kobo without removing the wires from Clara and am waiting for a full charge. I think it took a very long time for the battery to recover after the flight across the ocean and storage in warehouses. The temperature just leveled off. Now I will look for a good Cyrillic dashboard on the forum so that it does not move to the right on the new firmware and how to install it correctly. Thanks. Have a nice day.

I believe that you can find a Cyrillic keyboard in the KoboPatch patches. You can check in the Instructions for patching firmware 4.31.19086 for more information/help.
