Yes, you can send the books directly from Calibre to any Kobo reader. With the USB cable, of course, not over the air.

I meant using the USB. You can't send them over the air and that's when Dropbox may come in handy.

USB shouldn't be an issue... but yes, it's definitely good to have the backup with Dropbox.

Also, the Forma has a plastic substrate, making it less likely to "screen" breakage.

If plugging in a device every week or two is enough to dissuade one from getting a Sage they would probably be nearly as dissatisfied with other devices. The Sage does drain faster but not by such leaps and bounds.

Across multiple Nooks and Kobos I’ve never seen the screen break on mine. And while the forum isn’t a good indicator of typical users, we’ve certainly seen less and less reports of broken screens for newer devices. The plastic substrate was nice for some weight reduction but I’m not sure how much of a difference it actually makes in terms of screen durability.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned: the forma does not support dark or inverted (white text on black background) mode, so if that's something you care about...

I got bored and checked Amazon who had the Libra 2 as one day delivery. I came into some extra money as well. So I’ll let you know from some first hand experience with all three devices.

Right now pre-Libra 2 I would pick the Sage. It’s got a better screen and the weight doesn’t bother me. The battery lasts long enough that I have multiple chances to charge it during times I couldn’t read even if it were at 100% battery between work, sleep, and life in general.

Do I think the Libra 2 might beat the Sage out? For me it’s going to come down to just how much text I lose per screen and just how much lighter the Libra 2 ends up feeling. I like having Dropbox support but given how Calibre sends epubs rather than kepubs to Dropbox I don’t use it much. I don’t have a stylus and since the power cover is the only one from Kobo that holds a stylus and that case is 1) expensive 2) not currently available in the US and 3) potentially faulty I don’t see myself buying both it and a stylus just to see if I’d start using a stylus.

I ordered a black one just so it’ll be as much an apples to apples comparison between the three devices. All are 32GB though that won’t have much impact on the reading experience for me.

Of the three, my go-to is the Sage for its display size & quality and processor. The Libra 2 comes in second.

I'm interested to see your comparisons!

Does the difference between epubs and kepubs matter? I don't know what kepubs are. Does the Kobo require kepubs over epubs?

I do like dark mode on my devices generally, but not so much for reading.
