I feel exacly the same, if you exchange "Auro One" to "Forma".

If you took a bunch of average people (not enthusiasts like ourselves) and stuck them in a room with a Sage, Forma, and Aura One, my suspicion is that you would get an even split between people who liked each device. Some people, like myself, would go for the newer e-ink screen of the Sage, but the differences between devices is small (even though they're magnified in our minds). It's what makes the Aura One a good used deal if you're chained to 8 inch Kobo readers like I am.

We're probably looking at 2024 before the next 8 inch Kobo. That's how I know it's likely I'm going to end up with a Sage eventually.

I ended up buying a Libra 2, out of the box, I was happy.

Now I have had repeated corrupt databases .
Note: I eject properly (been using e-readers for a decade. Personal computers for 5 decades)

[I mostly leave WiFi OFF]
The Logout / Login routine lost all my places (%read. I jump around between book based upon mood).

For the last few weeks, upon connection to Windows, I get multiple screen flashes and windows device connection sound (instead of just 1). I replaced the cable even though it works fine with my phone. Frequently I have to 'use Windows 'disk repair' tool on the Libra.

So, are any of you all seeing similar? (It is harder to isolate things these days because so many updates happen frequently: (A/V, Windows and even the Kobo)?

Mine did all of the above and worse!

After downgading the firmware to 4.30.etc it all went away. To say fimware 4.31.xxx is buggy is understated.

Don't forget to keep the wifi off after downgrading or it will all start again.

Eh. I'd not want an Aura One if it was offered to me free. The form factor is awful.

The Sage beats the One by a mile. Better form factor, better screen, better processor and so on. IMHO, of course.

I will send back the Libra2 because the USB port is flaky. There is a warehouse deal on a Sage. Should I get the Sage instead? Or just have the Libra2 exchanged?

Depends. The Sage is heavier, the battery life is quite a lot worse and the frontlight is not as nice and even as that of the Libra 2. OTOH, it's faster and the contrast is almost as good IMO.

I actually prefer the Sage because of the speed and the large screen, but in certain lighting conditions (where it's very noticeable that the Sage frontlight is uneven) I switch to the Libra 2.

Thank you! Weight is similar to the KAO I loved. Battery life not so important, because the reader stays at home. Zippy processor and flush screen would be awesome. As would be the plus in real estate. I think I' ll give it a go.

I think a lot of people would initally go for the Sage with the pen-support, but might change ther minds after holding it in the hand for hours. Might be weight or battery that ends the session first, but after that I think the Forma really stands out. If you must not have the pen support.

I just got my second backup Forma waiting to be picked up by me (my wife took my first backup I got a month a ago). So with three Formas I will probably get by great until 2024 and longer!

I think the only real value of the pen is the ewriter application. For ereader / ebooks highlight with finger and type in text for annotation. Copies to PC no problem.
Unless it's DRM free PDFs you need to doodle on, and then really only screen shots to capture doodles to PC.

The advanced Notebook is separate, an ewriter, and converts to plain text (if text only) or docx if converted text, diagrams, sketches and equations.

The pen can't be used to create computer text in ebook or PDF annotations like in the advanced Notepad.

So unless you want an 8" ewriter, or scribbles/doodles on PDFs a Forma is better, because in terms of annotation that exports to ANYTHING else, the ebook aspect of the Elipsa/Sage is simply like the Forma or Libra.

So Libra2 or Forma as an ereader and finger highlight with touch screen typed annotation which can export, or Sage/Elipsa pen doodle/sketch on ebooks that can't export, or use Sage/Elipsa as electronic notebooks (advanced mode, basic is mono sketching) with decent handwriting conversion to text. Text or docx export to PC. The Diagram & Equation and sketch stuff does export also to docx, but compared to PC Visio or PC equation editing it's awkward.

As serious ewriter the Elipsa is better as the sleep cover with pen dock and pen is included. The Sage cover has nowhere for the pen. Adds another €46 for pen and whatever for cover on Sage.
I might later get a Sage if there is a reduced price offer and use it on the go with a €10 generic cover and the Elipsa pen.

The Sage & Elipsa are like two products in one box, the regular ereader and the additional pen based Advanced Notepad as an eWriter. So the Sage is more a reduced size Elipsa rather than a Forma with a pen.

Nah. I don't need the pen support. I bought the Sage for the newer screen and the faster processor, and I haven't regretted it or changed my mind. I can easily hold it in one hand for hours if I switch hands regularly. And the battery lasts for several days, which is enough for me.

I would not give up my Sage for the Forma. And I haven't seen a whole lot of people here doing it either. I get that you love your Forma, but objectively it's not really better than the Sage. Both have their pros and cons.

Certainly I'd be more tempted to the Sage than the Forma because I have a Libra and a Mars. But not right now!
