[GUI Plugin] Goodreads Sync - Page 106

I can't sync my shelf nor give calibre access to my Goodreads account. Is this because of an update? Is anybody else having this issue?

It is working here. It is most likely to be a network issue at your end or site problem. But, those screenshots do not tell me anything other than something didn't work. Press the details button to see the full error. And press the copy to clipboard button and post that for me to see.

I just connected my Phone to my PC in order to transfer a book to my phone and now it is working just fine again. It is really strange. ive been having this issue for a couple of days now. Sometimes it sort itself out this time I had to connect my phone first...

Next time I will post the text on the "details" Button. Thank you for now.

I made a couple of Tags in Goodreads today, in order to sort my books better. So whenever I read a Book I go to GR and put it in the "Currently Reading" Shelf and add the Tags. When I am at my PC i just sync my Library and the tags are added to my books which works great. However Ive been struggling to implement it the other way around. When I edit the Metadata of a Books to add tags in Calibre the linked Book in GR wont get tagged.

I hope you understand what I mean. Hope it is okay that I post this question here.

I made a couple tags in GR today, in order to sort my books better. Whenever I read a new Book I go to GR put it in the "currently-reading" Shelf and add the tags. Afterwards I just have to sync my Calibre Library and the tags that I added in GR are being send to the metadata of my Calibre Books.

However I am struggling to make this work the other way around. I cant add the tags in Calibre directly so that they will be added in GR. I tried it the following way but this doesnt work sadly. Any ideas? Hope its okay to ask this here.

The shelf and sync actions are for actions to take in calibre when adding a book to a GR shelf, or using the "Sync from shelf" function.

To put a book on a GR shelf, you use the "Add to shelf" function. Then you select the shelves from the list on the left and press the add button. The books should be added to the select shelves on GR and the add actions for each shelf will be done.

You can also use the "Linked Book->Upload tags as shelves". This will add the books to the shelves on GR that match the tag. And it should create the shelves if they do not exist.

The shelves "read", "currently-reading" and "to-read" are special. They will exist for all users. A book can only appear in one of these.

I was also able to fix the Problem that CR couldnt access GR. Turns out my PC is so old that the little battery inside my PC for the clock was empty which caused the Time to be wrong. I replaced the battery and now it works fine.

I only ask because I get tired of hitting the view shelf, sync from shelf, etc. and haiving to navigate all that to just get to the option to view the book. Would be nice to just hit a shortcut key to have it open. Is this even possible? I know I have to open up the plugin to get there, can a shortcut work without clicking on the plugin?

I click the goodreads identifier in the book details.

As to shortcuts, from what I can see, @kiwidude didn't tend to create them in his plugins. Having them would be helpful for some people. I'll look at adding some if I am working on a plugin, but, it won't happen any time soon.

Are you talking about seeing the open the book page in the browser? Or where do you want to see it? Because, for seeing it in the browser, you can already create a keyboard shortcut.

I meant for it to open in the browser. That's why I was wondering if it was possible to create a shortcut.

I have: Ctrl+Shift+L --> GoodReads Sync - Linked Book - See linked book (or similar, I've got a Spanish interface)

You can create a keyboard shortcut for lots of things, including "open in Goodreads", in the Preferences.

Open Preferences, go down to the bottom row ("Advanced"), and click on "Shortcuts". You'll see a long list of actions - look for "Goodreads", open that, and look for "View linked book". You can then set the keyboard shortcut to be whatever you like. Click "Apply" and you're all set.

Hi! Was wondering if there was a way of selecting the id to be used when matching books to Goodreads. I know that they require the isbn for an import, but in the past when I have re-imported one of their library exports, and it doesn't have an isbn for all the books, books without that isbn are still matched. The long and the short of it is, matching books using the isbn leads to the books matching to a dead tree book. I would like to indicate that the ASIN be supplied instead, and the isbn used as a back up only.

I have only digital books that I am entering. I have to manually reselect the Kindle edition every time.
