How do y'all protect your screens without a cover?
Hi y'all.
I've been with my Kindle Basic for a bout 2 weeks now. I bought it with a sleep cover and honestly, I'm not loving the cover. I don't know if it's the cover I bought but the edge/lip of the cover just digs into my palm when I'm using it one handed. And I don't like the added thickness. I very much prefer reading on it without the case, but I do worry about dropping it or banging it somewhere while I'm carrying it (Buying a Kindle in this country is a headache itself, so I'd like to not break this one so soon). So today I ordered a clear case for it. Like this, but for the basic. Now, going back to my question. To those of you who don't use a cover/case, how do you guys protect the Kindle's screen when you put it in your bag or something? I use a small sling bag so things in there are pretty squished together. I feel like the screen will break if I just bend it slightly. |

I only read at home and never take my ereaders out with me. But if I did, I'd use a padded sleeve or something like that.

I only worry about a cover on an ereader leaving the house. But don't set it on a chair or bed!
I use a zipped writing case just the right size to store an infrequently used 7.8" that I occasionally take from the house in a bag. They are vulnerable in a bag or in a neoprene type sleeve (only protects against scratches). My Libra has a stiff front cover on the case and I made a cover for the PRS-350 out of a €2 hardback A6 size notebook with pages removed. Two self adhesive velcro strip pads on reader back and the self adhesive hook part on inside rear of notebook cover. |

I suggest you try another cover. Once you find a cover you like, you'll have no need to take it out of the cover. I've had a Reader for 14 years. Every Reader has had a cover.

![]() I guess I could DIY a sleeve/pouch with some hard plastic of thick cardboard as an insert. Unfortunately for me, all the covers available here are the same. |

My e-readers have always lived in covers. I tend to buy lower cost 3rd party covers, and have returned a few over the years because of sharp edges or slick surfaces. I don't take the Kindles out of their covers, unless I'm changing the cover. I like the added thickness the covers give...trying to hold on to very thin devices kills my old hands.

I use a sleeve when it's not in use.

The problem with a sleeve is that when you have the Reader out of the sleeve there is ZERO extra protection.

hleo12, I suggest you try eBay to see if you can find another cover. Where is it you live so someone may be able to find other covers you can get. And what cover did you get that you do not like? I've never had a problem with any Amazon cover that I've held digging into my hand. My PW3 has an Amazon cover and it's not a problem.
