The brother-out-law went down to the shop he works at and got fresh croissants this morning, including chocolate and almond.

That is one thing I don't miss about living in the midwest. I have vivid memories of sitting in school hallways for what seemed like hours during tornado warnings. One year a tornado took the roof off a neighbouring school (thankfully at night when no one was there), so the school district was very strict about making sure everyone stayed in a safe place for the entire duration of the tornado warning. |

Well, actually, no, I wasn't ok when I typed that. (Somewhat better today.)
I seemed to recall that Marc got along ok with the brother-out-law (and anyone who brings cheesecake gets an extra vote in my book), but I guess I just spaced whatever else I ever knew about Marc's family interactions. |

Lovely weather here is north Texas suburbia. 23 C, light wind, and bright sunshine. The early roses are starting to bloom and the amaryllis are throwing up bloom spikes. the lawn is freshly mowed and the birds are chirping. A fine time to be working outside....Bye for a while....

![]() It's okay, neko. I mostly pretend to be pretty blasé about my family, but occasionally a bit of self-indulgence lets details of my angst and frustrations and despondency dribble out the sides onto some very tolerant and patient recipients (mostly via PM). I often find the obligations of family life to be like the bondage of roll upon roll razor wire wrapped around and pierced through its bodies until it's hard to tell the flesh from the tangled yarns - perfectly harmless to all, unless you dare even slightly move with your own will. On a meteorological note, they left this morning, my sister and brother-out-law having driven the roads and checked their home last night (but driven back and stayed again overnight), but they have just called from Cooroy, told that the roads are closed again (the creeks of the back way having risen again overnight). We may have them back this evening. Some photos of Kin Kin, the town next to my sister's town of Cooran: http://www.thedaily.com.au/photos/ga...-kin-kin/8600/ and some general Sunshine Coast flooding photos: http://www.thedaily.com.au/photos/ga...ods-2009/8576/ (these ones are pretty boring, since photog's couldn't go far to get to the "good stuff" and a few more: http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/g...17382,00.html# Cheers, Marc |

![]() But at least there are croissants. ![]() Somehow I had thought the brother-out-law was the brother of The Loved One, not attached via your sister. I love the turn of phrase, either way. |

Yes it is. Also, quite the slide show, just like that, from about 12,000 km away. The interwebs still amazes me.
Here, we expect our first weekend of total sunshine this spring. Sun and highs up to 13 C. No need to clean the puppy's feet of mud every time we bring her home from a walk. WDE. |

After the "Spring" weather we've been having, I'm fully expecting at least one of those sunny days forecast for the upcoming week to evolve into snow, or at least sleet. Am in a slightly pessimistic mood this evening.
