Maybe it's just my Aura Ones, but both of mine require the touchscreen be pressed much further from the edge of the screen than my Clara, for example. I figured it was a design choice resulting from the flush screen.

When I first used the Aura One only a few months back, I thought the touchscreen sensitivity was crappy, but now I think it was disabled side margins that caused me to think it was inconsistent.

I believe some e-ink tablets use "palm rejection" in their firmware for people who are writing on touchscreens on the same principle.
Never had any problems with false touch on KA1 (for me it was the uneven warm backlight that was a big irritation and problem for me).

It i just that I find it easier and more ergonomic to use physical buttons on the Forma. I also find that the wedge on the Forma gives me a more relaxed and ergonomic way to hold the reader than the KA1.

The KA1 is not a bad device (except my issues with the backlight), but the Forma is for me just a so much better device.

Hmmm I didn't have those scratching problems with my Libra H2O. Granted, I didn't use it as often as the reviewer, but still. It felt like a nice, quality device, not like cheap, soft plastic, and it didn't get a single scratch in the 2 years I used it.

The Sage and the Libra 2 don't feel soft and cheap either.

I wasn’t going to buy one because my Libra 1 was just fine. What prompted me to buy was the dark mode. It’s so much easier on my eyes in dark mode when reading at night. I do have a Kindle Paperwhite with dark mode but I prefer the Kobo. I can’t believe I’m saying this because a few years ago I was hating on them. LOL But I like the options of showing the book title on the bottom and the chapter title on the top among other reasons. I can get library books on it vs the Kindle where that isn’t an option in Canada.

Now that I have it I think I prefer the look and feel of it vs the Libra 1. I didn’t think it was going to be that much better but I do think that it is. Plus I redeemed a bunch of credit card points for gift cards to buy it. It cost me under $50. Very pleased!

I'm hoping for a Kobo smaller than Clara, like Inkpalm 5 mini ereader handheld phone size which will probably get more usage than my busy Clara.

I've got two KA1s and one of them has an uneven warm backlight.

I'm someone who felt strongly about the difference having the warm light makes in creating a more realistic looking page. I don't use the warm light to make the screen orange, but to take it softer white range.

What's been surprising me recently is that I'm not missing the warm light on the affected KA1 like I imagined I would. It's got me considering getting an Elipsa down the road when before I had dismissed the idea because of it's lack of warm light.

I've got sympathy for the reviewers criticism about Kobo's quality control and manufacturing tolerances. The inconsistence in production of the same model is maddening as a consumer. If they were using stricter quality control, I bet 10% of devices that are currently sold wouldn't make it out of the factory.

Had three new KA1 with uneven warm light on all of them. After returning the third one I gave up. Like you say; Kobo has very lacking quality control.

Hopefully that is had very lacking quality control. There haven't been complaints about the Sage or Libra 2 (that I remember anyway).

There was one user here who got an awful Sage, but overall the volume (in both senses) of complaints seems much lower. Of course, that might be because Sage users have to rush off to charge its battery before getting a chance to finish a post here at MR

Well, there have been a few. The Sage tends to have an uneven frontlight too, although I suspect not as bad as the older devices had. And of course the battery life, which is poor all across the line, so not the issue of quality control. The Libra 2 seems to have a tendency to freeze occasionally, which presumably is software-related.

But overall, yeah, I think Kobo has improved over the years.

Newbie here! I am trying decide on one the kobos. I wear reading glasses. My question is which is best for reading in a darker room and setting. As well reading at night in a darker room. I also need something with larger font lol (eyes). I also prefer a larger screen for obvious reasons.

Thanks

I have a complaint on the Libra 2. I just came back from exchanging one. I sometimes have bad luck when buying things and that seems to be the case with my reader. It had one of the lights showing through the casing and it’s not supposed to do that.

I’ve had a lot of readers including Kindles and none of them had that problem. It’s in the bottom left corner. So far the new one seems ok. I read in dark mode in bed and it’s really noticeable.

I picked up a Sage. I feel like with the harsh curve, they made it not nearly as nice to hold as my Forma. Also - I've never had a Kobo device where the buttons FEEL good to use. Forma has mushy, my Libra has mushy, and now the Sage has buttons that don't always work, have a little mush, and oddly don't consistently feel the same every button press. Say what you will about the Oasis design, but the buttons ok that hardware are top notch.

The screen is pretty darn great on the Sage. Uniform light here.

Seems like the plastic front bezel has a factory defect. It is thinner on that particular part
