Does anyone know hoe to get rid of the advertisements 'find your next book ...
' shop kobo and the reading stats from the home page?

I want that space to be more useful (filled with my books or stuff from my internal memory).

Just like it was in the old firmware days.

That is odd, it works fine on my Elipsa which is still on 4.30.18838 FW, tap on the battery icon while in a book, with my finger, and it shows me the percentage no need to use the stylus. This is with Kepub, epub and PDF books.

I have the latest firmware 4.31.19086 on my Libra H2O and have some problems with the fonts.

While reading a EPUB I wanted to change the fonts. In the main font screen I can change things but on the advanced tab the text is different than on the reading screen. It seems not to change the weight properly. Is there a proper setting somewhere in the patch files that I missed?

This is a firmware bug 4.31.19086. Read above, many posts.
It is with epub books.
Wait for a fix from Kobo.

Beyond what I already have posted? And asked? What, you want me to make something up? But...

As I stated, it is working here for the sideloaded fonts I have tested. There might be an issue with the size of the fonts and the total number of fonts. The way the RMSDK loads fonts is not very efficient, and unloading them is not good either. There might have been a change to better handle issues like size and quantity of fonts. I'm sure there was a thread in the last month or so where someone reported problems when opening a book which used 1500 fonts or something like that.

Beyond that, I don't use sideloaded fonts, so I don't test them very often.

But, how about you telling us your experiences? You are quick to tell people how they must do things, but you never actually test anything. You have asked that someone tests the fonts that you have created, but, you are not willing to actually test them and tell us if they have a problem. They are your fonts, take some responsibility.

Yes, there is a patch that will do precisely that. Scroll down the page of the link below to download the kobopatch version that corresponds to the firmware version you are running:

Interesting. I wonder why I was having trouble with this. Oh, well, it works now, so I'm satisfied. Thanks for the info.

Thanks,

I use that patch, but I'm not sure what I should change. I've tried a few things but it is not really working.

E.g. to get rid of the browser in the beta I selected yes. Still the browser is availlable in the menu. Other items do seem to work.

When you restart the device, it tries to read the database, but, it will be getting old data.

Seeing this problem after a firmware update is not strictly due to the update. It would have happened if you restarted the device for some other reason.

Unless you have a recent backup of the database, The fix is to sign out of the Kobo account and then back in. That will remove the current database and create a new one. Unfortunately, you will lose the reading status and annotations for sideloaded books.

Thanks for the good information. I did a factory reset and reconnected and then sideloaded all the original books and appears working again. I did see Caibre complained about the database and cold not connect when faulty.
Pity keep loosing reading stats but at lease basic functions all good now.

I really think this update messed something with the charging process. Reboots are buggy (does not want to boot and gets stuck sometimes in the three dots loading screen and led light goes off, sometimes white screen with led lights blinking) again on my Libra 2 (after removing nanoclock) and connecting a charger cable helps in booting.

Specifically to get rid of 'find your next book' and 'shop kobo', go to nickel.yaml and look for 'Remove footer (row3) and increase cover size on new home screen'.

Change 'Enabled: no' to 'Enabled: yes'

Alternately, you can change 'Remove footer (row3) on new home screen'. That will do the same thing without increasing cover size. But to me, once that row is gone, you need the larger covers or things look weird.

Just don't change both. Pick one or the other.

I had such issues in 4.30, it's gone with 4.31, not a single issue so far, other than perhaps the power led getting stuck in always-on mode for some reason. It does not really affect anything so I ignore it for now.

Can you check Settings -> Device Information -> Firmware information?

What does it say for Software version: and Kernel version:?

For my Libra 2 it's software 4.31.19086 and kernel 4.1.15-00756-gdf30b9c5883

If you updated manually, maybe the kernel update did not take...?

I don't have nanoclock or any other mods installed for now.

I have the same kernel version. And yes i did update manually as the update was not showing at the time.

I have nickelmenu and a bunch of patches.

Would you know if reverting to 4.30 is just a simple downgrading of extracting the fw 4.30 in .kobo folder and updating/rebooting or do i need to factory reset?

Simple downgrade usually works fine... factory reset will restore original firmware 4.28.17917 and kernel 4.1.15-00596-g1e1b09a698a (I have no idea what is the difference between 4.1.15-00596 and 4.1.15-00756)
