That's all you need to do is put those two lines in the [Reading] section of Kobo.eReader.conf file in .kobo/Kobo.
Ah, thank you for that. I'm no longer patching my Kobos but changing the Kobo.eReader.config file is extremely easy.

I compare Kobos to English cars and motorcycles (at least those in the 70s and 80s). When I was young I owned a used Sunbeam sedan (at the time Sunbeam was owned by Rootes, a division of MOPAR, I believe). It was a good car (fun to drive) but it required constant "tweaking." Same with my Triumph Bonneville (when I was a little older). Great performance, but I was constantly sanding down the brake pads so they wouldn't squeak. And the A.O. Smith gauges and electric parts were problematic (not in my case, but others had issues).

Yep. Lighting issues on the Forma and Clara when they first came out, for example. The Clara I bought (new) last year has an excellent screen though.

Well, my new pocketbook has just arrived, the touch hd 3, it has all All you can imagine, touch screen, good resolution, good illumination (more testing needed), two reader software in case one fails to correctly read a badly formatted epub, mp3, voice reader, and the possibility to ad a remote via bluetooth...
I personally think its more ergonomic than Kobo, Kobo in comparison is a little brick like device, pocketbook is slimmer and more modern looking being elegant at the same time. Same applies to their covers, while kobo cover has the same look as my grand mother's diary, the pocketbook one is a breeze of smart modernity, SO, can anybody tell me why the hell I can't find the f***I* SEARCH option?. Well lets take it easy... this is an ebook, not a home cinema, can anybody tell me what kind of sick mind can design an ebook with a remote that can play music and talk but can't do the task of searching words? This is the most important feature for me apart of representing fonts over the screen. No music?... iPhone, no dictionary... iPhone/dictionary itself, no note taking... a moleskin, no remote/no remote who needs a remote for reading? again, this is an ebook not a home cinema. Search is probably the most important feature while reading in case you forget some names, details... and I'm very forgetful.

Kobo still winning in its interface, but the pocketbook one is very usable... but forget about it, it doesn't matters now that it lacks search option.
How strange the world can be.

I ask myself If will I be missing something, still can't believe it, can anybody confirm that the touch HD 3 lacks search feature?.

For Search (inside a book) you hit the Menu key and the Magnifying Glass (search) icon is beside the Bookmark icon on top. It will walk you through each occurrence of the word.

EDIT: Meant to add... Here's a good selection of dictionaries for the PocketBook. The one it comes with is pretty weak.

I like the Webster's Unabridged.

It's just Touch HD 3. Touch Lux refers to the less expensive line of their readers. (A little odd, I know.) Touch HD's are 300 dpi, Touch Luxes are 212 dpi.

oooh, thank you very much, sorry for so much blaming
Now being less sarcastic
It's true that pocketbook is little slow, and may lack a fancy frontend like Kobo has with cool animations, but at the moment I feel more comfortable reading on it, my opinion may change as it is new and I own both, the other was given as a gift to my son, just for curious I'll read alternate days on each one to discover If there is life after Kobo/Kindle,

I suspect that if the screen is comparable I will end up using pocketbook, ergonomy, and out of the box ease of transferring books will be main reasons... will see

thank you very much!

Ok, no more testing needed. I'm going to give my conclusions having compared Kobo Clara HD and Pocketbook touch HD 3.

Good readers both, may be best quality kobo, and faster, but I'll stay with Pocketbook.

The keys are, flexibility, ergonomy, and less important... it seems to me better looking, It was more up to date five years ago... I think this model is 5 years old..., yeah, speed is 7 year old too... not everything can be perfect

Kobo has a polished interface and stability, good screen, and is fast.

Pocketbook software is not so polished but still very functional, and has much more flexibility out of the box.

Book uploading to the device:
PC, email, a cloud from pocketbook, via built in web browser (no other device needed) and Dropbox, (didn't tested dropbox, but even if it didn't work... with the rest is enough).

Easier to install fonts and dictionaries. I had a trouble with kobo refusing to install an older version of a font already installed, pocketbook has accepted both without asking.

Audiobook app, not tested as I have never used it...

Pocketbook came with a text to speech reader, none of the voices are perfect, but one or two decently read the text. (tested for curiosity)

MP3 player... will never probably use it... but there it is.

It can be paired with external bluetooth gamepads or keyboards, this feature didn't impress me (I even heated it) until I tried it, I had one of those one hand gamepads for iPhone VR games, well, once paired its a breeze to assign functions to its buttons, it makes super easy to read in any position. Having your hands "semi free" is really comfortable, this is the main reason I said before that pocketbook is more ergonomic, no more, much more.

And has a news aggregator that seems to me little useless.... but others should appreciate it.

It has something that gives one more degree of flexibility... buttons... is up to you if you use them or not.

This features come out of the box, no tweaking needed for none of them.

The screen performs "super" for me, although kobo's one may perform a bit better... don't know.

It's true that the frontend is a bit slow, but the important, when you are reading It performs quite decently.

May be kobo is more intuitive, with pocketbook you have to play a little more time to get used to it, but no too much time consuming.

Pocketbook seemed to me little battery hungry when using wifi to synchronize/browse, bluetooth for the game pad, and using the speech engine. I advise you to power off the features you are not using...

Anyway, I consider myself the proud owner of a Pocketbook touch HD 3

I like my HD 3 also. And I like the Clara. I've bought three new eReaders in my life (and way, way too many used ones). In 2011 I bought a Nook Simple Touch. Last year I bought an HD 3 in January and a Clara when it went on sale (November, I think). I don't regret either purchase.

Years ago, when I had the time, and enjoyed messing around with computers, I would agreed with you . Now I sacrifice some "prettiness" for practical reasons. Now I prefer to throw an application inside a directory, and you are done.

I'll try how kobo behaves, I'll try just for curiosity how messy is to install koreader on it.

In the Kobo Developer forum is a thread foe the one-click install for KOReader. It's very easy to install.
