I wonder if Rumple was running a constant low-grade fever, or an intermittent one, due to infection of the appendix??? I mean..what the hell, in using my advanced Dr. Kildare Medical Degree, that seems as good an answer as any.

I've never had a raised temperature, not even during my worst hot flashes did my temperature even got slightly raised. And believe me I've taken my temperature so many times over the last couple of months that there were times I gave myself an earache.

Mind you, I think my normal temperature is a bit on the high side (37C to 37.5C depending on the time of the day). But it's been so since I've started regularly taking my temperature since the beginning of the pandemic (yes, I'm paranoid).

I'll still have to wait and see how it goes when I'm doing things, that's when I got the hot flashes. But then I also have to take into account that my stamina isn't good at the moment; up until Monday I was sweating just taking a shower and getting dressed afterwards. But the last couple of days I've been noticing I'm feeling colder than before the operation at the same temperatures (or even higher temperatures). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the overheating is over.

Why aren't there baby avocados.

I invented a salad of tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, Persian Fetta, and canned tuna. But if I just make it for me I only need half an avocado and I've yet to find a way of keeping a half an avo for much more than a half a day - tried lemon juice, olive oil, Alfoil.

Anyone have a secret - might try Mirin today.

Make twice as much salad and have the other half the next day?

This might not work if you want to use the second half of the avocado for a salad, but if you don't mind using it for guacamole or something:

I've never understood the problem of having to save an avocado. I devour them in seconds, just hand me a spoon, and worst case I'll just make a mess all over my beard if I cannot find a spoon.

I've had success wrapping them in Glad press n seal. I can keep one for 3 or 4 days easy.

Trader Joe’s sells tiny avocadoes, but I realize that might not be cost effective when you’re in Sydney.

I can hold half an avocado for a few days; keep the stone in and cover the cut surface with Saran, cling film, cellophane wrap, whatever term applies.

I confess I've never had issues with plain old Saran Wrap or whatever clingy clear stuff I'm using that day. I tend toward the Costco giant one.

Today we're allowed to open the store properly for the first time in a month. During the past month we had to make due with call & collect due to Covid restrictions. To be honest I didn't mind it, especially this past week when I started working again.

Last night was the latest press conference, where the prime minister and minister of health announced that the measures will be relaxed somewhat. On Thursday it was leaked that non-essential stores were allowed to open and work by appointment. But the details (last year there had to be at least four hours between making the appointment and the appointment itself) would be announced on Friday night.

However, yesterday afternoon it was leaked that instead of working by appointment we were allowed to open with the measures that were in place before the lockdown. So, face masks, one customer per five square meters and we have to close at 5pm.

I'm not even sure if I will be able to make it until 5pm. This past week I worked three hours a day, taking it really easy (mostly checking and putting away shipments) and it tired me out enough that I had to take a nap in the afternoon. Now I will have to help customer, on a Saturday (most difficult customers of the week). On the other hand, it might be a quiet day. Before during periods of high infection numbers Saturday was the quietest day of the week.

I'm looking forward to tonight; my father will drop my off at my sister's place where I will stay the night. We'll finish watching The Wheel of Time and place a board game if we feel like it. I was supposed to go for a couple of night during the New Year's Eve weekend, but that fell through due to my appendicitis.

Plus, if the same number of customers come to the store that is open for less hours it’ll be busier per hour than when it’s open longer.

For us it doesn’t matter much. On Saturday we always close at 5pm and on weekdays at 6pm, but than last hour is never busy.

None of the damn measures make any sense, if we're all talking honestly. Almost everything that "they" tell us ends up being wildly inaccurate, so what's the damned point?

Disclaimer - I'm not saying whether this theory is valid, just that I've heard it:

One reason I've heard for curfews is to keep people from staying out late partying because if they drink too much they are less likely to remember to do things like wear masks and keep their distance from other people.
