Sort/Save library by Series

Hi All,

At the moment, after importing epubs into calibre, all the books are stored sorted by author (when looking in windows file explorer)
e.g:
[Calibre] - [Authors] - [Title] - [title-author]

Is it possible to change this behaviour, for example sort it by series as you might do in an actual bookcase (I don't sort all authors alphabetically, I sort them on topic/series, Aviation, History, Philosophy, Cooking etc.
e.g.
[Calibre] - [Series] - [Authors] - [Title] - [title-author]
[Calibre] - [Series] - [Title] - [title-author]

I've been staring at the settings, but can not find anything like it.
I know we can manage and sort all of it in a proper way within Calibre, but it annoys me everytime I open the lot in file explorer

No, it's not possible and never will be. A calibre library is meant to be used via the calibre GUI, not via the file explorer.

Using any file tools other than calibre on a calibre library is a good way to force you to learn about recovering a damaged calibre library.

I leave the real Calibre database alone (mostly) and use CALIBREDB.EXE's --export option to copy books to a working folder using a template to name them the way that works best to side load to my Kindle

https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/gen...db.html#export

Sample file template. The template language is very flexible so that if a book is not part of a series, that part of the generated file name is empty (e.g. The Martian)

Please read this section of the User Manual ==>> Why doesn’t calibre let me store books in my own folder structure?

And this sticky thread at the top of this sub-forum ==>> Want to change folder structure or file names in the Calibre library?
