What would cause a PB 602 to power on and then turn off after about three seconds?
Title!

It could be a dead battery.

Swapped the battery with the one that works in my 603, and it still does the same, unfortunately. Could it be something wrong with the board? I can provide a picture if it'd help!

Here is the motherboard:
![]() And here is a weird silicon "box" that I found rattling around in the ereader -- not sure if it's related. My 603 also has one, but the lack doesn't stop it from working. If anyone knows where it's supposed to go, I'd appreciate it! ![]() |

I don't have any definitive answers for you. If you are handy with electronics, then you can probably find some JTAG pads on the motherboard and attach a JTAG->USB converter to it. If so, you could probably watch the console while it boots and look for error messages there.
I have a 902, but unfortunately I couldn't get the back off the device this time, so I wasn't able to look for the JTAG pads on my device. |

It can be either. After googling a little, it's possible that the connector labelled CON2 on the lower left of the board is the UART through which you can view the console. You would need a serial-to-usb convertor like I mentioned earlier. Since you say you are not savvy with hardware, then you probably don't have such a device on hand. You can google UART and serial-to-usb to see if you are interested in taking on such a project. Keep in mind that this would just help you see what gets printed out on the console when the reader boots up. You would then need to decipher that to see if it tells you what actually needs to be fixed.
Edit: Whoops! The CON2 information I saw was for the PocketBook 611 model. I'm pretty sure that the CON2/CON6 connectors are for the speakers on the 602. Sorry about that. Last edited by rkomar; 01-01-2022 at 11:27 AM. |

I finally managed to get the back off my 902 and get a good look at the board. I did not see anything that looked like a JTAG or UART connector. The back has a hole over the CON4 ribbon cable connector, so maybe that is somehow used for diagnostics, but that is beyond my experience. Sorry, I guess I didn't have any good suggestions for you.
