The Sage sleep cover also attaches with magnets. As mentioned above, I can pop it out in less than 5 seconds.

I was just comparing the Sage to the Forma (I own both). The main difference for me is the screen, which has noticeably better resolution and clarity on the Sage. While this difference is minor, and might not even be noticed without a careful comparison, it is very important if one is going to spend hours reading the device every day. It is especially important for dark mode, which is built into the OS of the Sage and can be added to the Forma. Dark mode is 100% better on the Sage. I don't use the Sage for writing things or marking up pdf's (it's too small), but for reading it's by far the best e-reader I have seen.

Very rough and unscientific, but that so far suggests the cover battery might be roughly twice the size of the Sage one. But we'll see.

PS - powercover battery now 92% with Sage still inside it on 100%. So perhaps they are the same size after all.

When I read with the cover on, it draws power from the cover first, even after the Sage is charged to 100%. So with the Sage fully charged and the cover remaining on, the power cover has declined from 81 to 76%.

As to having it plugged in overnight, that would be fine if I actually remembered to do it. Unfortunately I often forget.

But you need to plug it in also to charge the power cover. Less often than having no power cover but you end up with basically two things to think about. Same as having a 10k mAh powerbank that you can take with you. Probably the pb will weigh the same but gives you more juice.

But then I'd have to carry two things, a powerbank and the Sage (and the cable - actually three). Instead of just carrying the Sage in the power cover and taking it out for reading. And with my memory, I'd just forget the power bank (or the cable).

For my use case, the power cover is the most convenient way. I'm not saying it's that way for all others. Everyone uses their reader in a diffferent way.

I have impaired motor skills - the sleep cover is not difficult for those whose motor skills are not impaired, but putting it in the case and ESPECIALLY taking it out of the case is fiddly and difficult when doing it essentially one handed. For me, that is. Otoh, Plugging in one of the half dozen or so USB-C charging cables in my 16m2 living room/office where I spend 80% of my life is no problem at all

I'm surprised that getting it into the cover is hard. I think I've put the Sage's cover on my desk and put the Sage down on it and it seated in without me even trying. But, I normally just line up the edge and let gravity and the magnets do their thing.

Getting it out I can see problems. I usually stick my thumb in and prise it up while holding the back. I can do that one handed, but, have slipped enough times that I can see it could be an issue if you have any problems with your hands.

I know that all the sage's have some button side brightness, but does this look like too much? This is on 30% brightness. Do you think an exchange would help out or is this how all of yours looks too?

Hard to say, but I don't think the strip on mine is much different.

My opinion is that if it shows on the photo then it is worse in actual. I had a Libra h2o before that my eyes cannot get used to the screen uniformity isssues but no photos can show what my eyes see.

If it bothers you, send it back. No point in keeping a reading device that will interrupt your reading because of the screen. If it does not affect your reading, keep it.

@Zelostar: That is the only important thing. It doesn't matter what we think. If it doesn't work for you, then exchange it and try again.

I don't care whether something FEELS expensive, especially when the Sage already is stupidly expensive, for me.

What I do care about is the idea of a half kilo ereader, that's just appalling. I almost never read on a flat surface, and on those very rare occasions when I do, it's at my computer desk where I might just as well plug in my Sage and have it charging while reading without the burden of doubling it weight. I've even taken my Sage out of its regular sleep cover and will continue using it like that except when taking out of the house, which happens on average once a month or so.
Could not agree more.

For me it will not be a premium experience with such a heavy e-book reader after using it for some hour.

As has already been said several times, people don't always use their reader in the cover. I use all my readers naked, so to speak, and always have. A cover, for me, is the means to hold my reader safe when I'm NOT using it. So the weight doesn't matter.
