I meant a popsicle, but I was on strong painkillers and couldn’t find the right word. It was what we call a rocket popsicle. Feeling better today, though very sore. But so far I didn’t need the strong painkillers, so that’s a win in my book. If everything goes well with the drain I can go home tomorrow or Friday. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Hope you get to go home soon. And that your family will give you a break from all their requests for help!

![]() Thanks for the elaboration, both of you. I rather like the term, to be honest, over "Popsicle," which sounds like some deranged 1920's frozen soda treat...Ice Lolly has all sorts of lovely connotations. Hitch |

When I studied English and education for my Master in the Netherlands we were allowed to choose which English we used (British, American, Canadian, Australian, etc). But we had to be consistent. So you were constantly looking up words if the were the right ones for your choice of type of English.

Wow - I'm late to the story here (been too busy to do any websites this week) but I'm glad the surgery went pretty much OK. At the start of the story, before you said UTI, I was wondering about appendicitis. Glad they caught it!
And I read enough British that I kinda knew what an iced lolly was! And/or it's from my 5 trips to the UK, though I've never bought them, since I don't often eat them. They're not chocolate, and so not worth my calories! But in hospital, I'm sure they were just what you needed. Recover quickly! And keep us posted. |

Yesterday was rough, but today I'm feeling a lot better. Not a lot of energy, but not tired anymore. The biggest issues right now are my digestive system getting started again and the disgusting taste in my mouth. The last couple of days nothing, except a certain licorice, tasted good. Today was a lot better, thankfully. I finally wanted to eat, instead of feeling I needed to eat. I had too much for dinner though, so I'm taking it easy tonight. We call ice lollies/popsicles "water ice cream". I don't eat a lot of them, except when it's really hot, then I like the rocket ones and the pear flavoured ones. |

I'm home for just over a week now and I'm doing well. I'm very slowly getting back my energy, though I still tire easily. And two of the three incisions are incredibly itchy (in a healing kind of way).
Interestingly I'm not constantly warm anymore. Since August I overheated easily and was warm almost always. Where my GP thought it was mental or maybe a pre menopause thing I always thought it was something physical. And it looks like I might be right. Next week I'm going back to work. We're still dealing with the lockdown and the call & collect situation, so I can take it easy which is a nice way to start. |
