If you want to move it, the easier ways is to copy libraries AND configuration directory. Having those folders, you can move easily all your installation (I've lost count of the number of times I've done it). And you could install calibre 4* in Windows 11, no need of migration to calibre 5. I would be more scared of Windows 11

This is why I use Calibre portable. Just copy the portable folder and done. All it needs is maybe a rescan of new keys for DeDRM.

I know Calibre has an import/export option but that one seems to take a long time.

If you aren't going to immediately shut down the PC you can run it in parallel for a short time to make sure the new install works the way you want. I migrated to a new PC not too long ago, moving the libraries is no big deal, I just copied over the library folders and pointed the newly installed calibre to them. The thing that took some work was making sure I had the correct versions of Kindle, ADE, etc. to work with my "tools". My migration caused me to upgrade Calibre to 5.x so a bunch of my other plugins had to be reinstalled and configured. Overall it wasn't bad, although I am in no hurry to upgrade to Windows 11 since every currently works the way I want.

Yeah, it's the plugins and tools etc I am worried about. Plus I am still using old ADE with no issues. So need to research how all of it works (if it does) with Windows 11. Been reading a bit about the changes there, but I am hoping to keep the setup I have. Not sure what's been going on with Calibre as I haven't kept up with the news since I haven't been upgrading every other update as I did for many years.

I have no plans to stop using the windows 7 PC as it is still a nice computer and I can't afford to replace the photo editing software, Word, etc. But it was stating to have issues accessing some websites, hence the new laptop. It's basically just for going online.

But I also figure better to start researching soonish as I want to ensure everything works before I am forced to if the harddrive fails or something. Better safe than sorry.

But I am going to wait until after the new year.
